- "My heart belongs to daddy" was composed by Cole Porter for the 1938 musical "Leave it to me". The original singer was stage star Mary Martin but it has since been performed by many famous singers such as Julie London and Eartha Kitt... Perhaps the best known version today is Marilyn Monroe's rendition in "Let's make love".
This version by Bert Ambrose and his orchestra is a very hot and sensual one, especially in the second part of the song... The record unfortunately is quite worn out, so my advice is to hook your computer up to a good sound system, turn up the volume and move away your furniture : let youself be swept away by this great rendition....
The video is a tribute to some "bad women" of the silver screen (maybe the title,of this video should have been "Ambrose & the loose women")... It shows Joan Crawford in "Rain" (1932), Kay Francis in "Mandalay" (1934), Hedy Lamarr in "Algiers" (1938), Greta Garbo and Erich von Stroheim in "As you desire me" (1932), Mae West, and Rita Hayworth in "Gilda".... Of course others could have been inlcuded but I choose some of my favourite scenes.

I see a lot of details and dates, but I don't see a date for the recording. I always look for that first off, especially when putting together playlists for my music ed classes. Great recording and video, though!
EDIT: Here's what I found: this disc was released in 1939. Vocals are by Evelyn Dall.
It's very stark and cool.
Evelyn Dall was a naughty lady herself. A "blonde bombshell", ideal as the vocalist for this song.

Seldom is anything better than the original version presented by the original artist in the original production. This is called "being true to the intentions of the composer", an essential fact in preserving these wonderful classics. Too bad there's no recording of Mary Martin singing the song in the 1938 Broadway production of Cole Porter's "Leave It To Me". Mary Martin was a superbly talented lady & entertainer. Stars of her substance and character seem not to exist in this day and age.
Somewhere on TH-cam there is, or was, a video of Mary Martin singing it in color from a movie..
can't those scratches be filtered ?..I could not concentrate.
