As for someone who got tattoos before Jesus found me; I say to those who are thinking of getting one: Don’t. I regret all 4 tattoos I have. Even if it’s a memorial; there are better ways to remember a loved one.

I also got it im the orientation I did (long side towards my wrist) so that when I help someone up off the ground (both literally and figuratively) and they see the cross from my arm extended, they'll see the symbol of Jesus extended towards them and see that it's a disciple of Jesus helping them and that's something special to me, that I can represent him in all I do.

What about when you, yourself, look down at the cross tattooed on your arm? What are your thoughts on seeing the cross appear upside down from that perspective? Likewise, what about if or when throw your hands in the air while praising our Lord? Does the idea of the cross being upside down in that instance mean anything to you? @@iamjulian2810 I mean in a sense it can mean that as well because Jesus and his deciples reference culture and traditions as something that can turn dangerous. We are reminded time and time again not to be influenced by those (which are worldly things) because we are to be influenced from the inside out by the Holy Spirit. Science can even corroborate the fact that when people have tattoos, the tattoos themselves can tend to hide skin diseases or illnesses/ issues that we would normally be able to see without the tattoos there. That doesn't even include the possibilities of gangrene and other illnesses you can contract from the healing process or uncleanliness of the tattoo artist's practices during the process. As Christians we are supposed to treat our body as a temple and take care of what God has gifted us with. That means being careful of what we put in our bodies, AND on it. And just because tattoos aren't really a religious thing nowadays for most people/ culture it doesn't change the history of tattoos and where the practice came from. As Christians we are called to be careful, and hyper vigilant/ skeptical of everything we come in contact with. It's important to discern because we want to please our heavenly Father, and choose His will over our own.

I got one tattoo before Jesus found me: a small dragonfly on my wrist as a reminder that things get better, and that bad situations are temporary. There's a story behind it that I'd rather not type out, but I don't regret it. I think tattoos are one of those things where your intention behind it matters. Are you getting it to honor someone or something in your life, to remember something, or just because you thought it looked good? If it's the last one, maybe reconsider. Paul in 1 Corinthians 10 says that all things are lawful, but not all things are good nor helpful. Later in 1 Timothy 2, he says that we are to adorn ourselves with good works, not gold or costly attire (I think we can safely lump tattoos in with that). Does the tattoo draw attention to yourself, or does it honor God?
I don't think we can or should judge those that have tattoos. Tattoos or the lack thereof is not a Scriptural nor a salvation issue, and I think that each person can have their own opinions on the matter. Just think about why you're getting one, and if it glorifies God.

@@nicoleayala4153 I'm not a Pastor Nicole, but this is my personal opinion based on the Levitical law and passages like Romans 12 on your body being a living sacrifice to the Lord. So many people I've talked to and heard testimonies from have wished they hadn't gotten a tattoo including family. You can't change it without an expensive 'undoing', and I think it is more God honoring to have the verse 'written in your heart, that you might not sin against God' like the psalmist King David said (Psalm 119:11).
On pierced ears, my current understanding is that it is OK, if you are not being flashy, ostentatious or showy to garner inordinate affection or solely for attention seeking, and one must have 'a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price', as your priority, first and foremost, when deciding what you will wear. Jewelry, like anything, can become an idol of time or attention, vanity even, and not something that truly honors God (1 John 5:21).
1 Timothy 2:9-10 "In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works."
1 Peter 3:3-4 "Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel; But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price."
Pray about these things, stay in scripture, and ask your Pastor and brothers or sisters that you think have good judgement. But again, speaking personally I prefer women that do not wear make up or jewelry, or at least very limited, but I still prefer none, and I strongly discourage tattoos. May the Lord bless you and guide your heart in these choices Nicole, in Jesus' name.

If God banned tattoos amongst the Israelites partly so that they would be "In the world, but not Of the world" then we should do the same thing. Christians should stick out of the crowd as people with strong, set-in-stone morals. So while tattoos are not explicitly a sin for the modern Christian, I think it is wise to not get one for many reasons. But because it is a gray area, everyone considering getting tattoos should certainly pray about it and make sure that the tattoo glorifies God.

I have always thought of “in the world but not of it” as more of a heart-thing and of spiritual condition rather than applying it literally to things like whether or not to get tattoos. Christians are already criticized for being super judgy to others that I think claiming that tattoos are “of the world and that’s why I won’t get one” comes off as unnecessarily high-horse and pretentious which are objectively horrible ways to connect with other people and bring them to Christ. We stick out of the crowd by having a light around us that radiates from us when we are filled with the Holy Spirit. People are drawn to that and want to know what’s going on with us, how are they so happy, why so positive despite x,y,z happening in their lives, why so hopeful? And that is our chance to say “It’s because of Jesus.” Go light the world!

Biblical culture suggests otherwise. In weddings, what did the bride wear? Piercings. God even uses a nose ring in his imagery for marrying Jerusalem in Ezekiel 16:12. We can’t impose modern Western sensibilities of what’s considered appropriate especially when the Bible speaks for itself. Who knows, maybe we won’t, but I’m inclined, based on Scripture, to say that it will be acceptable in some form just as it was to the Israelite ideas of beauty.

I appreciate this and many other videos you make. Before I came to Christ I got many tattoos on my body, such as an entire sleeve and others. It makes me sad it is sinful and I honestly hide my tattoos all the time. (At my previous church no one knew how many I had but I'm sure they questioned why I wore sweaters in 100 degree weather, haha) However, I don't want people to see my tattoos and get the wrong idea of God so I hide them and am immensely ashamed honestly (as a 24 year old woman it also makes me feel less feminine), especially since I have a pagan past.
I'm not sure if you'll see this comment but I have thought about getting them covered with Christ centered art, but I'm not sure if that's sinful as well. Getting them removed is way more expensive and almost impossible. What are your thoughts on this? I love your videos brother, you help me so much.

First and foremost, if you regret the designs and motives, you use them as a reminder of how amazing the gift of the death and resurrection was to include your tattoo mistakes amongst the sins that were paid for. Don't be ashamed of them anymore.
Secondly, don't underestimate how God orchestrates. There are tons of people out there who were saved after making similar mistakes. Satan wants to use anything he can to make us feel excluded from being in Christ with one another or sharing the gospel. Believe in a God creative and big enough to be faithful in completing His work you in you and through you anyway.
Third, if you like the more culturally feminine aesthetic, you could look into body makeup. Personally, I like to see all types of women represented in the church.

Additionally, it doesn't help when fellow Christians bash me either or say how ugly tattoos are, it makes it hard to show them. I do know, however, that my tattoos can be used as a testimony for Christ. And I probably should treat it as such!
Do you think I should cover them with makeup or would it be okay to cover them with "new art"? I just don't want to be a disrespect to Christ. I'm very weary of my actions these days.

Hi Shelby, I think it's only sin if it is to your own conscience. Like Isaac explained there is a difference between the old and new covenants. With that being said though because the new covenant is one of the heart, it is between the Christian and and the Lord what they decide, and great wisdom should be used when picking a tattoo. I personally have an almost full sleeve that I got before I was saved. Parts of it I still really like and there are other parts that I think I should have definitely thought more about. Let those be reminders of the grace that the Lord has shown you in Christ, and the weight of the cross will become bigger and bigger. God bless you Shelby 😊✝️

Even though he didn't say anything about "Do not get a tattoo", but rather not to judge someone based upon what you can see ON them, there are still so many people in the comments spewing their personal doctrines surrounding tattoos. There are many laws that Gpd gave the Israelites, exactly for the reason my guy said in the video. Those laws were specific for them at that time. But, all the decisions we make now should be wise and done in love, according to our faith and love of Him. So, MY advice would be, if you want to get a tattoo, make it a wise decision. Let what you get be a part of your journey as a Christian, just as a story you would tell. Have what you get STILL glorify God. Tattoos aren't wrong, in my opinion, just used wrongly.

@@josue2662 It really is a valid question, and one who's been boggling Christian minds forever. We sometimes forget that Jesus said He came to fulfill the law, and when the Pharisees asked Him which one of the laws was greater, He introduced a "new" law, summarizing all the laws (commandments) , i.e. Love God and love your neighbour (Matt 5 & 23). The laws given in Liviticus were specifically only for the Israelites at that time. And as someone in the comments also said, those laws were for the Israelites to distinguish themselves from the ungodly nations. So, if we want to break it down, we should just ask ourselves, are we distinguished from ungodly here and now? What makes the Christian different from the non-Christian? Personally, outwardly looks are just as superficial as they come, because many a "Christian-looking" people are just not believers, and you get disciple-believers who look like prison junkies. I love you Isaac and I wholeheartedly write this, and I do because God says we got to love each other as He loves us, so the world will know we are his children when they see the love of God in us loving one another.
You said something very precious at the end of the short that so is so deeply rooted in me as the introvert that I am... You so beautifully and simply explained what the "outward" really is, and how we as Christians should focus more on the "inward" of people (and ourselves) more than on the outward.
When God brings people into our lives for a short or long period of time (God decides), I realized that at times are people we feel uncomfortable with because of some "external" aspect (like tatoos and piercings as examples), so we put into action God's love in us, in the people's inward as we do not know what their life story is behind the individual, God's grace should flow through us when we interact with people irrespective of their outside appearance, to gain them for Christ, not to torment them finger point them and judge them...
When I was 17 i so wanted to have a tatoo!!! :D and I clearly wanted a butterfly in blue colours at the back of my shoulder (hahahah I had it all planned in my head!!) The reason behind it, was purely because I love butterflies and they are very meaningful to me (that has not changed!!) so... what did I do? I came across a sticker tattoo of a blue butterfly one day AND i put it on just as I wanted. It lasted a few days, but that made me reconsider if it was really necessary (as its meaning is in my heart and mind I can speak about it, no need to tatoo it on my body) Also, I thought about how God created us without tatoos... if these were necessary, he'd given us our own, ... at that moment, I realized I was somehow questioning God's perfect creation of my body... so I then asked God to forgive me for that, He has made me fearfully and wonderfully... nothing to add nor remove, who am I to question Him? He makes no mistakes. Since then I decided no tatoos and I would not recommend them to anyone. That is my little tatoo story for you all!!
When I see someone with tatoos, I get curious and if the situation allows it, I ask about their meaning to them, I ask about the story behind them... I find out the person's story... and always the opportunity to talk about God's love and Jesus :) It is a beautiful opportunity, let us love more, show mercy and compassion... be the light in a world full of darkness!
Thank you Isaac. Sending you a big bear hug full of God's preciuos love :)

It's also been a wonderful witnessing tool because it being simply the verse title I get asked often what it means and what it means for mylife and I love that part most of all because there are millions always struggling out there so to be able to plant a seed through my testimony of how God is always there even through strife and sorrow it really strikes a cord with others!✝️🙏

Revelations 19:16. Written on his robe and THIGH. King of Kings and Lord of Lords. If it brings glory and honor to God. I see no reason why it isbad. Also a great way to spread the truth of Jesus our Lord and Savior.

@@josue2662 this says God not Jesus. And you're still ignoring scripture. It says thigh and robe. So, it's like a tattoo but it's not. So Jesus when he was fully man and fully God. Here on earth probably doesn't have that. But once again in revelations 19:16 God does have something like a tattoo on his body. You can not ignore that.

I started a tattoo before I was saved. My husband did it. With having four kids, we have put it off through pregnancy etc. now that we decided on “no more kids”, he mentioned finishing my tattoo. It’s a Japanese theme with a hennya mask. Would this be ok to finish?

Also it’s a sweet reminder of His constant presence in my life and hopefully a way for God to use it to glorify Him in giving me opportunity to evangelism and talk to other about what my tattoo means!! 💖 intention is everything!

“ So then, the law was our guardian until Christ came, in order that we might be justified by faith.” Galatians 3:24
The verse about tattoos was in Leviticus and there were many laws before Christ came to fulfill it and now we don’t do many things that used to be practiced like strict laws that the Jewish did on Sabbath. Even when Jesus came to us He didn’t take part in the laws which can be found in the gospels Mark 7:13, ESV: “thus making void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.” This verse talks about how the Pharisees were mad at the disciples for not following the law but Jesus was speaking about how Gods word is above mad made law and rules… God will and His glorification is above all rule made by man (Mosaic law)

I have many. Some I still like, some I regret, but they still tell a story of what I've been through. I've searched the Bible for discernment on tattoos, and I don't read anything specifically against all tattoos, all I see is, "don't mark your body with cuts or tattoos in rememberance of the dead". If it is a sin?, I know I've committed much greater ones, but have been forgiven through repentance and supplication in prayer. Tattoos or not, I know Jesus loves me, forgives me, and I know He knows I love Him.

What is the definition of sin? 1 John 3:4 says sin is the transgression of the Law. By that definition, tattoos are sinful. We should be careful not to twist scripture to fit our own desires and cultures. The point is to be set apart and holy.

OK question, ive had talks with my mom and she has said stuff like this before where some stuff in the old testament was designed for the Israelites, or as my mom would say, it was designed for the cultures of their time. At what point are these rules no longer a cultural thing? Like for example, why is women wearing jeans okay now because of "our culture" but homosexuality or other sins like that are not? Culturally it is okay to do drugs or other sins so why aren't those okay? I'm not trying to defend any sin or whatever I would just like some clarification maybe.

If you got tattoos in your past I understand but should Christians now get tattoos the short answer is no.

The law of Moses said honour your father and mother. I got one small anchor tattoo on my left ankle that’s hidden with socks on. I got this tattoo because it meant something to me I’m a sailor and it represents that I am anchored in my faith and it was a good memory with my friends when getting it.
I also did this against my parents wishes and my pastor said broke that commandment. I still love and respect my parents and pastor guidance and teaching.
I moved away to another state in Australia from country Queensland to the big city smoke of Sydney New South Wales. I no longer see or even talk to my parents on a regular basis.
I contemplate if this was the right thing to do. I could use some wisdom right now from you Issac or you daily disciple audience.
I want to get another two tattoos in the Hebrew language “Ahavah” and “Shema “ that is the words in translation to English “Love” and “Listen” represents my love for God and I have to listen to him daily.
What book and scripture verse in the bible can help me make my decision ?

There’s more in depth of a reason why God stated not to make those marks on yourself. Most symbols people get tattooed are literally pagan origin. My friend had gotten a tattoo of a heart with a dagger going in with the number 23 inside, oddly enough when turning 23 she got her heart BROKEN. It made me think, these might have spiritual meanings etc. Then again I have other friends who have tattoos that reminds them of their relationship with God which makes unbelievers curious. Everything you do it has to be based on intention. Some people justify their tattoos when theyre getting it to be sexually appealing even if it’s a cross! still weary on tattoos though being that I think it’s a deeper meaning than just a simple image.
