  • The best Mayan ruins in Mexico? Without a doubt the Palenque ruins in Chiapas state.
On our favourite day trip in all of Mexico, we explored 2 beautiful waterfalls (Agua Azul waterfall and Misol Ha waterfall), followed by a visit to the incredible Palenque pyramids. The ruins are situated in lush jungle and, unlike for example Chichen Itza, you can climb most of them! So gear up for some adventure and let's visit the BEST MAYAN RUINS ever in this Mexico travel vlog.

You're very welcome! The entire state of Chiapas is actually lesser known than for example Yucatan so there are a lot of hidden gems there. We also loved the Sumidero Canyon - 1,000+ meters deep with a river running through, we made a video on that as well. Are you planning a visit to Mexico? 😊

Thanks. Tikal was really special indeed. Very different from any of the other ruins. Beautiful jungle with some cool wildlife as well. We were thinkinh about going to Copan in Honduras as well, but we'll probably skip it.

How did you find your guide ? I will be in Palenque in 2 weeks, did you find them local to take you to all the water walls? I have a total of days to sight see.

Sometimes we used a guide as part of a local tour that we booked through our hostel. You can also find guides at the entrance of all sites too.

That’s because Chiapas used to be Guatemalas. Well Guatemala was all the way to Yucatan.
