    The best TH-cam video ever to explain the CRYSTAL LATTICE ,wow I am even more amazed to see this was made 9 years ago, when some modern videos still struggle to make this concept clear

    After reading 3 books & a lot of videos & online information I was still lost. This made sense by explaining the basics. Thanks for posting it. I wish there are some other videos like this.

    That razor blade cutting through the structures was very pleasing aesthetically. Also, great video. It made a lot more sense watching this than reading my chem book and you made everything incredibly clear!

    Your animation is even better than my chem professor's marker-board drawings and wild hand gestures.

    After so many years of looking at 2dimensional crystal lattice....in books..... N criticicizing self for not having imagination power......... N hoping for someone to teach me i finally found this video which clarified my doubts ..... Very useful video...... Now I understood.... that after cutting unit cell appears like this..... I used to think.... Why they are half.......
    N adding all half parts..... Was difficult in mind..... It was so peaceful to observe how 1/8 th part of spheres join to form one atom...... No need to apply formula n remember just remember this video....., thanks..... 👍✌🙏🙏🙏

    whats the difference between FCC and BCC? I understand their structure is different and have different use of space, how does it affect the behaviour of the material? Is one stronger than the other?? Thank you for the great video, it was very informative

    • @infinityplusone72
      @infinityplusone72  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      BCC metals have less plasticity and are more brittle because of their higher dislocation lattice friction stress. Their lattice friction stress is sensitive to temperature ~ increased under lower temperatures so more rigid and brittle. At higher temperatures the plasticity increases (lattice friction stress decreases.)
      FCC metals have higher plasticity because of the lower lattice friction stress which occurs whether the temperature is low or high.

    • @poppyblop484
      @poppyblop484 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@infinityplusone72 thank you so much!! Is BCC having higher lattice friction stress because they have fewer atoms, so when it shears, the changes is a lot bigger than if there's more atoms in the unit cell? So ultimately BCC is a stronger and more brittle structure? Thank you once again
