Great work with those Hindu names of God on 'My Sweet Lord'. Thank you, Bobby. I'll always hear that song different now that I know it's only you and George on vocals.

As I watch these videos (and I’m going to watch them all) it’s not just the amazing stories that are so captivating but Bobby’s ability to tell a story.
He’s every bit as talented an orator as he is a musician. And that’s saying a lot because his music inspired generations of musicians.
Coco’s interviewing style and techniques are a perfect match as well.

Bobby's so funny!! I recall the first time I saw the Two Virgins album cover. You know that feeling you get when you see something and realize you can never unsee it?? I was like that only worse! As for everybody claiming they and their brother played on George's ATMP album, that also reminds me you can find 27 million people who claim they were at Woodstock too. I guess people figure with the passage of so many years, nobody will call them on it. Well, Bobby was there for the whole thing and he remembers it all - right, Peter Frampton??

    • @misisipimike8020
      @misisipimike8020 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Nice story Bobby, ah for the record it's HARE KRISHNA.
The names George put in some of his songs are names for God and those describing his different transcendental attributes .
It's like Bob Dylan said to the Beatles, now you've got the world's attention....say something ! So George was trying to say something meaningful, and fact is lots and lots of people have benifeted from his spiritual messages.
    Keep the wonderful stories coming.

Hi CoCo and Bobby! I don't know if you have come across Otis Gibbs in your travels? He is a cool singer/songwriter and he also does this amazing podcast. This edition is an interview with Chris McKinney. Chris is the curator of the Jim Irsay Guitar Collection. He tells the story of how one guitar helped define the sound of The Beatles and Badfinger. I imagine this discussion will bring back some pretty cool memories and you will remember the guitar they are talking about well. It also adds to your point about what a generous man George was. Enjoy! otisgibbs.com/episode-152-george-harrisons-gift-to-badfinger/

If you look around, there’s a two part interview with Delaney Bramlett in which he says that he is the actual writer of my sweet lord. I believe he states that George asked him to write a gospel inspired song and my sweet lord is what he came up with. It would be interesting to hear what Bobby says about Delaney”s claim.

Question for Bobby : Clapton not on the recording of My Sweet Lord, so all that great slide guitar work George did himself ? ( I know he had to have overdubbed the harmony slide guitar part). The most gorgeous slide tone ever. An believe Badfinger provide some acoustic guitars.

Bobby, I wish someone would update the Wikipedia entry regarding 'My Sweet Lord'...
I just looked at it a moment ago, and you are not credited...
You may not care...and if so, so be it...
But from my (a fan) viewpoint, it NEEDS to be done...I'd do it, but, it needs be authentic, real...

This popped up after some critic vid popped up to dispute this stuff. He was a Brit, thinking he is protecting something but I totally believe you on this. If people don't bother to look at the big picture, the European Delaney and Bonnie and friends tour in Europe joined by Eric Clapton and GEORGE HARRISON then follow the trail, the Eric solo album, other material, subsequent Dominoes material, it totally flows. I'm not sure why Harrison family has chosen to keep a tight narrative, I have no idea. The influence of you and those players plus musicians like Leon Russell, Bobby Keyes, others, essentially the American musicians on the Brits at that time, should be described as a musical shift in the timeline of history. It should be studied, fleshed out and written about.

According to Wickepedia, 13 musicians played on "My Sweet Lord", including 5 guitarists, among them, Peter Frampton; 2 drummers, including Ringo Starr; and 2 on keyboards-- Billy Preston and Gary Wright. But no mention of Bobby Whitlock. Hmmmm.

Two Virgins (the John and Yoko nude cover) was released in May 1968. Before even the first Delaney & Bonnie (and BW) first release. I don’t doubt that this is a little memory slip. If anyone has lived the life of BW it’s understandable that occasionally a little mistake would be made in the recollection.
