      James Pawson It's ok, James. Just as most men have to adjust to the smaller tools that women use, most women have to do the same. Different leverages, strengths . . . it's all good. Lilly does a superb job of it. Donna C.

    I found this was helpful thanks lady. 🤠
    I carry a cleaver & often baton with it.
    I also carry a pocket chainsaw. I can deal effectively with wood with just these two lightweight items. The cleaver also serves as a shovel. I keep a file handy to stay sharp as the task requires.

    Great videos Lilly, I'm addicted to your channel after stumbling across it yesterday. I should be studying but can't stop watching and dreaming of being in the woods myself.
    I need to invest in a bigger knife, like the one you have here. Until then I use a LightMyFire knife by Mora. I've seen you using the same in other videos.
    When I have larger logs to split I often use a wedge, made from the wood I am splitting. This works well when the knife gets stuck or is not large enough for the job.
    Have you experimented with using wedges?

      I have found that liquid soap works well. I took some Dawn blue liquid dish soap and the fat full tick backed out in a couple of minutes. One rock + one driveway = one dead tick.

    • @coryfrench5940
      @coryfrench5940 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Judith Neeley If you use an axe,then it is called spliting.The word BATON is French for STICK and that is what you are using to help "split" the wood.A stick.That is why it is called batoning.

    This is the first I've heard of this technique, and it's pretty cool. I'm not sure when you'd be able to get your hands on a large diameter piece of log without having an axe or saw to chop it down to begin with, but I guess if you're lucky.

I don't get much of a chance to get out and practice my camp craft much right now as I am a schutzhund trainer decoy and most of my weekends are used up training on weekends. But soon I retire and will get a chance to practice what all you have shown us.. Thanks very much.. Luftwolf/ Bob

    If you craft a wedge you can split bigger pieces of wood and never beat your knife again.
