Rough week for Korda. Just got off to a bad start and the OB shot on the back nine was hard to watch. Hope she figures things out before Olympics. Wish her the best.
I thought Corpuz was going to move up. Still think her driving accuracy will help her over the weekend. Expecting her to have a shot on Sunday.
Yang played great. She was just solid all day.
Schmelzel came out of nowhere. Glad to see her playing well like she did earlier this year. And Thompson has being playing great since the retirement announcement. Love her attitude in all the interviews.
Meanwhile, I love the fact that this tournament is so important to the Olympic invites. Hope they cover the US and Japan rankings throughout the weekend.
Based on the past few weeks, it's so hard to pick winners. They seem to come from behind. Just based on that, I like Corpuz or Boutier. 🔒 Lock it in. 🤙
It looks like Megan Khang and Alison Lee will both miss that Olympic threshold now, while the door stays slightly open for Ally Ewing.
Given the strong stretches that Allison and Megan each had to finish last season, 2024 has been largely disappointing thus far.
My eye👁is on Haeran Ryu. A win would give this 2023 Rookie of the Yr, her first major, and vault her into the Paris Olympics.
If anyone surges up that leaderboard to track down the leaders it'll be Lilia Vu.. maybe Madelene Sagström.
Nelly Korda shot 81 today and missed the cut. Per Beth Ann Nichols, Nelly agreed to talk after the round off to the side but became so emotional that she had to stop and re-start again.
So sad. Just gives everyone an appreciation of how this game can get away from you for a round or two or sometimes for good (Yani Tseng). I’m hard on myself when I shoot erratic scores but need to remind myself that even the pros go through these wild swings (pun intended).
I hope this doesn’t scar her mentally. I felt the 10 on the par 3 at the US Open may have had some effect on her. I sure hope not. Good kid that works hard. Poor thing. Best wishes to Nelly.
Good to have all girls play again after getting food poisoning a month ago.
Too bad Lexi Thompson is leaving. She never lived up to her potential. Don't know if she ever had Butch Harmon lessons. I am no Mr. Black but her wardrobe was very weird. Outfits that looked like what maybe a 15 yr old would wear with the very short sleeves and sleeveless look. The Asian girls know how to dress.
