First day of planting for me - lots of hardscape projects here this season. I used the auger I bought over the winter, friends it is a game changer. It makes planting 100 times easier. Mine was not super expensive and I kid you not I planted a flat of annuals in twenty minutes. Have a great day everyone.

I received a package of Rose lilly Samantha as well from Eden brothers.. I normally don't plant out lilies because of animals but I'm going to plant this one
Are Lillie’s bad for animals? Or are the animals bad for the Lillie’s?
@@amypitts-knous2531I think they're toxic to cats, but rabbits love to eat them, as do voles and their compatriots.

I love them too. Live on East Coast zone 6b-7a and I tried planting many things under a tree--Heucheras, pulmonaria, fern, and everything died because either didn't get enough water or not enough sun..brunnera is doing great! The tree does get side sun for 1-2 hours in the morning and evening. Love them!

They are THE BEST, even in the toughest spots. And mine are starting to seed around, which I strongly encourage. I’ve bought them as bare root plants and they also do well.
I'm getting ready to add lots of Brunnera to my garden. It's become one of my new favorites!

I love planting things in my garden with the names of family members. Some are easier to find than others. I have a grand-daughter named Mavis and, low & behold, I found a geranium called 'Mavis Simpson' - was so excited to get it in the garden !! I love how you are so excited for your beautiful oasis ... it's such a pleasure to just stand and take it all in - a peace, a calm, a serenity, pure joy - thanks ever so much for sharing your world and inspiring us all !!!

I recently started growing lilies, they do really well here in Ohio. Omgosh they smell so good and I've never heard of Samantha lilies! That's awesome!I have a Samantha too! Now I have to get some of those
I was watching this video while grading some papers during my prep period at school (I'm a teacher) and since it's teacher appreciation week I was gifted a homegrown bouquet of beautiful flowers. Well, I have to say that everyone should have fragrant flowers nearby when watching your videos because it became such an immersive experience! I felt like I was walking through your garden smelling all the lovely flower! Your videos always make me so happy! Thanks for sharing!

Question: Can you share your thinking about replacing the redbud? I've heard it said by expert gardeners (I'm including you in that group, Laura) that plants (especially larger, older ones) don't necessarily flourish in the first season after planting and that it might take up to three seasons to really come into their own. There were issues that you mentioned about the pear and apricot that you removed. Is there also something wrong with the redbud other than an under-performing bloom?

Vitex is one of the last things to leaf out for me every year. If I remember correctly, this is your first time growing it so I mention this only to say that you may not need to pull yours because it might not be dead, it might just be late.

I was going to say the same thing. And I’ve had one year where mine died down to the roots (zone 6), but it came right back.

So glad someone gifted you the Samantha lilies. My order for them was canceled as the company did not have enough bulbs to fill the order. I was planning on gifting them to my neighbor; a 10 year old girl named Samantha. She loves flowers and visits my garden when I have perennials that need to be separated or volunteer ones that need a new home. I will try again next year.

I have a cat just like yours. But my Lilly, is an indoor kitty! She is considered a tiger etc. So when i adoped her from tbe animal shelter, she was renamed from tiger lillys ( tbat i love). You and your cat garden on! Love your segments!

I have those Samantha roselilies! I bought them last year, and they survived the winter! I'm 8a, but we had 24-72 hours at 8°F, so I was really worried that they would died. But nope, they are sending up new shoots! Such pretty flowers.
We too, are having a rare cool spring here in Maryland. Usually it jumps right to high temps but we are really enjoying the cool breezes!!! 😊

Cats get so bored so easy they always want to know what were doing😂❤. FYI red geraniums protect your house! It's an old tale from witches. I think it's cool!! Benjamin dude, what's up strong one!!❤
Shade Perennials are my favorite. The Brunnera is such a unique, almost metallic feature in the garden. Adding 3 to my shopping list! Hopefully my garden center has some in stock!

I’ve seen a lot of people say that this Agastache isn’t coming back well, I’ve never grown in personally, I’ve only grow the blue purple varieties
I hope mine pops out soon!
My Queen Nectarines, planted in 2022, failed to come back. They’re terrible performers. It was an expensive fail too so I won’t be growing them again. There are other varieties, including natives, that are much more resilient.
@@janisscalone9661 I wonder how it came to be a proven winners plant if so many people are having problems with it? Maybe in the future they will brand it as an annual but I can’t see that working if it’s an expensive plant in the first place
