I am soooooo excited that I found your channel!!!! I just got loc extensions (I know, I cheated) and I was lost as to how to style them besides a BORING bun and of course wearing them down. I stumbled on one of your videos by accident but you now have a new, faithful subscriber. I can't wait to go through all of your videos!!!
I love it when she says "cuz you know I love bangs" she rocks all of those hairstyles hope my hair gets as long as hers
I don't have loc's. I'm 100% natural but I watch your videos religiously because I enjoy the way you speak so much! you're such a lovely inspiration.
I always wondered how this worked... the bronze goddess has been rocking this style for a minute and I love it... looks good on you too
I don't know what I would do without your fabulous styles! I'm now known as the Diva of loc-styles at the office...lololol...I can't believe I'm now styling my own hair...thanks Chesca from a very grateful Jamaican loc sister:-)
My friend shared a link to your video on loc pedals and I literally sat for like an hour watching some of your other videos....YOU ROCK! Love your hair and your sense of humor...will definitely keep watching. THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION!!
Chime's hair is gorgeous, and this was a great inspired look!!
i love how this look can work for any kind of hair. its super awesome!
I did the Flat Twists but instead of putting the front in a twist I put it in the French Braid like in the French Braid Wrap video you made and can I say it looks FABULOUS!!!! It's something I feel everybody can do just because its beautiful and can work for all lengths.
p.s. Your Gorgeous and your hair is absolutely beautiful. I Love ALL of your videos there is no flaw in any of your videos.
thanks! i'd just come back from Anderson and this is how I had my makeup done for the show. in person it looks like a TON of makeup (including individual false eyelashes!) but on camera it looks more subtle. i love how it turned out! i wish i had someone do my makeup everyday lol
I usually find myself wishing my locs were longer because I can't do most of the styles in your videos (my locs only go to the base of my neck right now), but I watched this video and simply did the flat twists around to the middle of my head and it created a cool mohawk kind of look that I really liked! Thanks Franchesca!!!
Gorgeous. Thanks so much for your videos. They have been a huge help, and a "light at the end of the tunnel" for me. :) My locs are only 8 months old. Can't wait til there's more length to do some of these great styles. Keep it up, Chesca!
great video! I've been running out of hairstyles for my Senegalese twists and I can't wait to wear this style, especially since i'm a huge fan on the side part look
I have a few grays as well. Instead of plucking them out, which I've heard makes even more grow in, I've started to snip each one as close to the root as I can with a pair of hair shears. It's neater than dying my whole head for a few stray grays! When I see that they are trying to grow back I just snip 'em again.
Your hair is beautiful! I just started my loc journey last week. I can't wait!
Love it!!! Thanks I will do this over the weekend!!
thanks! Anderson's makeup artist did my makeup, not sure what shade of lipstick he used. actually, a straight pin is different from a bobby pin. i learned the difference from a stylist on a film set. bobby pins are closed, straight pins are open. i tend to use open pins because they do a better job of holding my hair.
Thanks for all your tutorial. I have just used the lock cleanse on my hair. xx
Another great hairstyle, TH-cam's been missing them, hehe! Lovely outfit too btw :)
The three sections you flat twisted is just a loc memory on my head. Ps when i do play catch up with episodes i missed it feels like catching up with an old friend (in pretend) but real life #we'dbecoolpeoples
good god, i love your locs. i've been thinking about locking for a long time.
ha! thanks! no, i don't get my eyebrows done and while i've plucked a little in the past (usually juts cleaning up stray hairs, not really shaping them), i haven't done anything to them in months. they're naturally very thin so i use an eyebrow pencil to darken and shape them up.
i've been hearing that a lot lately. she's gorgeous! thank you! :)
i've found that straight pins are better for securing large sections of hair. bobby pins never seem to do the trick for me. i might do a video on this just to show the difference. when i'm pinning back a small section of hair i tend to use a bobby pin.
Wow! My fave tutorial so far!
Cute hairstyle perfect locks u know how to switch up any hairstyle to fit you
I didn't wash my hair before filming this video. I wash my hair every 2-3 weeks and try to retwist my hair at least once a month. I used to retwist after every wash, but found that it has thinned my hair a bit, so i've stopped retwisting so frequently. I occasionally twist my hairline and just leave the back.
I saw all of your video, I love them all thanks
this is an awesome style. simple yet funky...I'm def going to try this one out & send a vid response to show you how it turns out :)
I love this! I tried it on my twists ( gettin locs this summer) and it looked really nice thanks! :-)
Don't mind me...i have been living under an energetically precocious two year old ...but ps. I did check you out ...love your poise and energetic realness!! oh and I cut the back of my locs after 10 yrs....still stuck between how to manage that growing back ...?...!does one grow it back ? peace n luv
This faux shaved side looks really good too if the loose side is in a bantu knot out. You should give it a try :)
U look cute with that hairstyle ! GO GIRL!! U rockin
yes, i'm still using castor oil. my roots are reeeeally grown out right now, so that might also be why my hairline looks thicker.
i don't see why it wouldn't. if you like the style then you should do it!
This is my default look that I rock all the time! BTW, your makeup is lovely and springy.Take care ;o)
Saw you on Anderson Cooper's talk show the other day! Very useful tutorial as always ;)
i had that problem when i first started mine. i just did a few on the side then wore them for a couple of weeks to see how i liked it then slowly started doing the rest over a period of time. im prone to regret myself so i know what its like. its also the reason i have no tattoos. im positive ill regret it and there aint no going back from that. also do plenty of research
love it mama!
thanks and welcome!
you're just absolutely gorgeous! i love your videos & your personality (from what ive seen) :D
I've seen some of your other videos where you wear wigs and I was wondering how you go about manipulating/stylingyour long locs to be able to fit a wig over them? My sister struggles with her natural hair and so has been considering locs. However, she is a wig fanatic and is concerned that once they get long she'll no longer be able to wear wigs. Maybe you could make a tutorial about that? I'm quite curious myself.
Thank you!
link is in the video description box
yup! thanks! i've had my locs for almost 9 years :)
I know the video was about your hair, but I could not stop looking at your eyebrows. They're amazing:-) Do you shape them yourself or do you go and get them done?
So I love your videos. I have extensions in that i did several months ago. So i have about 3 inches i would guess of my hair. Do you think this hairstyle would look good with extensions?
i have a trick for u chesca, for the grey hairs, take your mascara and color over it when your doing your makeup, my mother did that worked great
Heyy i love the video..do you have some tips on buns for medium length thick locs
I just did this style for my date tonight!! Thanks!!
Beautiful eyes!
Beautiful style. And grey hair is wisdom....embrace it :)
you can post them on my FB fanpage
I just had to comment to say how cute you look with that make up!

i'm eating plenty of greens lol while grey hair can be a sign of copper deficiency, it's also part of getting older. i've also had one grey hair in my bangs since childhood. my mother started going grey in her late 20's so it's not that unusual for me to do the same as i'm approaching 30.
I think your gray hair is cute.. i love your video!!!!!
i wish i new the brand :( i had my makeup done at anderson, i'm not sure what color the artist used
Hey Chesca!! Do you still use the Jamaican Black Castor Oil? If so how often do you use it? My locs are thinning at the roots in the middle of my head and th,edges. Do you think it will help with that?
i retwist my hair every 2-3 weeks. sometimes only once a month
You may have addressed this...but I have looked through many of your videos and have not found it (and I searched your channel). Do you have any advice for bleaching (or other ways of lifting color from) the ends of locs. I just started them and my hair is pretty long and I just started my locs so I plan to cut the ends since from what I hear, they won't really loc anyways so I'm not terribly worried about them since I know there will be damage. Thanks!
you look sort of like freema agyeman; you are both beautiful! love that hair, lady.
Just a quick question as to why you use a straight pin to secure the flat twists, and then use a bobby pin to secure the front "bang"? What's the difference?
Great style - I noticed your hairline looks a lot thicker r u still using the castor oil?
did you grow those locs? they're lovely!
hello!!!! loved you in the show!!!!
Hey Ches. Here's a question for ya. Have you ever gone to the beach and gotten sand in your locs? If yes how do you get the sand out?
I'd love to show you some hairstyles that I've done based on your's and other's TH-cam tutorials.... aka, applying to be a locstar. lol I don't have a video. How do I download pics?
All the prettyness is overwhelming ! haha
so gorgeous!!!
no wedding plans yet. we can't start planning until patrick graduates law school and passes the bar. it wouldn't be fair or smart to try planning a wedding when he has to prepare for graduation and is still looking for a job to pay for said wedding
You are so freaking pretty!
haa! well then you have a totally reasonable and precious excuse! :) i'm just teasing, i know everyone has lives offline. i can't possibly expect you guys to follow every little thing i do. how much did you cut? what length are you at now? the best advice i can offer is to just get creative with styling to help the growth process go by faster. there's really no fast way to make your hair grow, besides getting extensions
Very simple love it!
I'm thinking of loc'ing my hair but I'm battling myself on making a final decision. I was wondering, do you ever want loose natural hair, or regret your locs?
Totally missed you!!!!
your 360's are hillarious
Thanks for the style idea. *random* what did you do for your makeup?
thanks! it feels weird to wear so much, but it looks great on camera, so that's what counts :)
When you first got your dreads or starter locks how often did you get them retwisted ?
my locs don't fit under my wigs. i wear them in a low ponytail and film around them.
Fabulous!
bronzegoddess01 has a tutorial on how she fits her locs (which are long, but still a bit shorter than Chesca's) under her wigs.
Very pretty! ...and easy too!
Xoxo
welllll I posted about it on my Facebook, Twitter AND on my blog, which means you must not be following me on those....tisk tisk tisk :) The video from my most recent appearance is on my blog. I was on this past Wednesday.
I what lipstick is that ? It's really pretty
feel you on the grey in the front
I have the same gray hairs in the same spot! What's up with that?!
What lisptick are you wearing? It really suits you
thats cute ! love it
Completely unrelated to hair, but are you wearing Invisaligns? So many people I'm subscribed to have been recently so I've been able to notice when someone else is lol.
I'm doing this right now!
This should work with dreadlocks too right?
i actually didn't do my makeup for this video. i filmed this right after I did Anderson, so I still had the makeup on from the show.
Oh I see. I had a feeling that it was just too good to be true. Nonetheless you share some great styles which I'm sure will give her some courage and show her how versatile locs can really be. Thanks! ^_^
you mentioned grey hairs in the video. how old are you?
I missed you on Anderson ?!!!! (sheesh!!!!)
thanks! my camera and software info is on my channel page :)
did you watch the video? i show you step by step how to flat twist starting at 2:00
i've been tempted to pluck them out, but i decided against it. i dunno, i pretend to hate them, but they really aren't that bad. they give my hair more character lol
Super cute style :)
i've been posting once a week!
