I'd say you should give it a try. by "explosive" they mean that while doing pushups for instance, instead of doing normal pushups you simply "explode", staying in the air for a moment (you cn clap your hands to increase difficulty). Now what that does, is that at every pushup you give it all you have, you just want to push the ground as far away as you can. By doing so, your muscles work harder than usual. The long muscular fibers "break" (it's not bad, it always happens when you train)...
However, tha part that gets you "ripped", is the fact that the muscular regeneration makes them stronger and bigger, so by using more weights or especially doing explosive movementes, your muscles build up faster. also, by doing explosive movements, you don't overdo your muscles, like you do in bodybuilding. So whiile doing an enormous amount of weights gets you the bigger muscle, explosive movements get you a more "compressed", or efficient muscle. I personally prefer it, since it doesn't...

It's true that you simply cannot get anywhere near to that. However even when you're on steroids, it still takes years and years of hard training and the genetics to achieve that sort of size. It's not like you're going to take steroids and be that big within 2 years.. most people on steroids never get nearly this big.
