Peterbilt logging truck with VERY LOUD PIPES!

- Driver Jeff Tellefsen leaves a sort yard in Mission BC headed for Washington state with a load of fir logs. Truck is a 1999 Peterbilt with an 18 spd. transmission and 550 HP caterpillar engine. If you have a bass speaker to your sound system,this will sound amazing like you are sitting on the back of the load.

That big rig sounds awesome loud jake brakes and straight pipes
I could watch this for hours, almost meditating.
This truck is a 6 axle configuration with a drop axle and is good for 88,000lbs when it's stretched out for the Wa. state bridge laws. We have configurations that allow us to haul up to 105,500 lb US with 7 to 8 axles.
Well you need big exaust, the big exaust on this pete is what makes it sound so sweet. You know you can get pipes installed in the bed of the truck to. like this here
There is nothing more soothing to me than hearing a straight piped truck doing its job. And for those that like to hate on loud trucks, honestly, I see loud pipes on trucks as safety equipment. Why? Because if someone hears the truck coming, maybe, just maybe, they might actually pay attention to their driving. But... that is wishful thinking, I still see morons cutting off trucks, even the loud ones, and it makes me absolutely sick. But, this all said, very nice Pete you have there :)
At the start you're hearing my jake killing the RPM's double clutching is for beginners. I float the gears.
Exactly what I was looking for to help me fall asleep. I could listen to a diesel run for hours, makes me miss my Cummins
It simply comes down to really knowing your truck and how it reacts. I have driving this truck for almost ten yrs and I know how it likes to be ran.

Not sure who was trashing this guy for shifting with the jakes on. Just watch the whole video. This is a very good driver, I'll ride with him or he can drive my truck anytime he wants. And there's not many people I ride with! This driver isn't hurting anything!!!

Yes thats an E model with 6" tips coming out of 8" dynaflex muflers that are about shot and that's why it sound so good. :)

He is like me and had been driving since he was able to reach the throttle. Dad had his first car at age 11 and is now 62. he is an amazing mechanic has and diesel.

Not sure why someone would trash this guy for shifting with the Jakes on. This is a good driver, he know what he is doing. I have seen people trying to shift with the Jakes on that doesn't know how what an F'ing mess. We have all took off from a red light and forgot the jakes were on, and Yes I have f'd up doing it.
But anyway this guy is smooth, he can drive my truck anytime.
We are booming here in Washington. Could be better ofcourse but still trucking timber. Advice? Use your common sense and never lose your fear of the truck. Always respect the truck and be safe at all times. Always know that you never know it all. Each day or week can present a new learning experience to you. Learn from it and become the best driver you can be. Good luck.

Trucks in the USA can go the same speed limit as passenger vehicles. So 70-80 MPH on turnpikes, 65 MPH on state highways, 45 MPH on local roads, and 25-40 MPH on town/city streets.

I know someone that had these mufflers on a cummins and hollowed them out. He got busted and made him put a regular muffler underneath. People were tired of waking up everyday at 5am.

This is a 378 model. 3406 E those are 6" stacks down to an 8" Dynaflex muffler that is almost useless at this point due to them being rotten out but makes it sound like straight pipes. My family owns this company we have ten trucks.

@104bigTruck I made a little case with a cloth put on it...best is some synthetic, rich, with as little holes (among a fibers) as possible..it should get you rid of 80-90% of wind noise.......depends on "density" of the cloth and speed of the wind ...but it works for me ... I've tried it in a storm with 40 km/h wind and no wind noise was recorded at all
I was driving at 18. My insurance Co. told me I was the youngest insured log truck driver in the state of Wa. at the time.

Ya, most are not only older but with upgraded engines or turbos as log trailers are heavier fully loaded than regular, say box trailers, this one definently has one of the two, or both.

Those Dynaflex mufflers on there are pretty well done for and things are pretty loud so you are probably hearing almost a straight pipe.
