EVEN IF I WILL BE THE JUDGE I'LL MARK THEM! VERY DESERVING!!! POLISH IS NEEDED BUT CHOREOGRAPHY CAN KILL IT ! TANGUB WAS NICE AND WELL POLISHED BUT THEY LACK IN WOWFACTOR / SURPRISES THAT AMAZE AUDIENCE
They truly deserved the award. To be honest, their performance is much better than Sinanduloy's. Some of the routines, props and theme were indeed borrowed from past Sinanduloy performances. They just combined and voila they created a nice routine. It's nice to see Placer battling Sinanduloy for Sinulog-based category coz it will heat up the competition. Next year, Sinanduloy hopefully will wow us with their routine and re-claim the top spot.
SINULOG BASED PARTICIPATION CATEGORY

GUIDELINES
1. The dance entry must depict Filipino culture and tradition.
2. Concept or theme for costume and performance are left to the discretion of the participants based on their own interpretation of what is relevant to Sinulog. Emphasis must be given to the concept of prayer in dance.
3. Dance steps, music, costume, accessories and equipment of the dance should be in the context of the chosen theme or concept.
4. Appropriate footwear consistent to the theme / motif shall be used by all the participants.
5. The Sinulog beat must be used all throughout the dance interpretation however, slight variations may be allowed. Any entry who will not use the Sinulog beat shall be disqualified (judges should be strict in implementing this rule because it is the “beat” that differentiates the Sinulog from other Philippine Festival particularly Ati-Atihan and Dinagyang). The beat is the one distinguishing characteristic that should be maintained all through the years or else the Sinulog will lose its identity. A penalty of five (5) points will be deducted from the criteria on musicality for entries who will have more variations than the Sinulog beat.
6. Live musical or percussion accompaniment must be used. Canned / taped music is not allowed.
7. A minimum of (30) thirty and a maximum of (50) fifty instrumentalist shall accompany the dancers. As part of the contingent they must be in proper attire consistent to their theme / motif.
8. All hand props shall be carried by the dancers all throughout the parade route.
9. In the ritual presentation, huge backdrops like risers and the like are prohibited such that no contingent shall leave props, backdrops, etc. at the back of the Cebu City Sports Center. A (5) five point deduction shall be imposed against any contingent who violates this provision.
10. Ritual presentation at the Cebu City Sports Center stage shall be limited to five (5) minutes only. Three (3) points shall be deducted from the total score against any contingent who violates this provision.
11. Time starts once the dancers move and step on the designated entrance area of the stage likewise the time stops as soon as the first set of dancers step down in the exit area.
12. The use of infants/toddlers (3 years below) and live animals sacrifices are strictly prohibited. A three (3) point deduction from the total score shall be imposed.
13. The use of flammable materials such as fireworks or pyrotechnics as part of the ritual are strictly prohibited. A three (3) point deduction shall be imposed against any contingent who violates this provision.
14. When the concept or idea or theme is on preservations and transformation, one should register in the SINULOG BASED CATEGORY characterized by any of the following:
· Use of legends attributed to the miraculous of the Sto. Nino
· Use of historical research, legend, folkdances and folklores as well as events related to the origin of the worship of the Sto. Nino by the early Christians.
· Use of religious activities surrounding the celebration of Pista Senyor.
· Transition / development from the pagan to Christian concept that is clearly portrayed in the choreography, costumes, props and adaptation.
· Transformation of a religious tradition from the “old” or original practices of the devotees to Sto. Nino to modern adaptations.

I like carcar's concept every year. Not the usual concept like this.. ;-)
Binash itong contingent na ito dahil hindi nila matanggap na natalo yung Sinanduloy... Nakakatawa kayo, alam niyo yon? Imbis na maging masaya para sa kanila ay pinili niyo pang maging hater. You should act proper and think of those words, kayo nalang sana nagjudge sa competition.
Every dance routine has an inspirations... If copy man gane dapat happy ka kay it means ge idolized ka... same rana sa revival sa mga kanta... Lets grow up coz we are all artist in our own way... i have lot of friends sa Sinanduloy and they are very humble to say nga dili nila tuig karn. With respect pod nila as hall of fame sa Sinulog based. Lets pray for the best of everybody para sadya kita tanan... And i am pretty sure Tangub City will make another big bang next year and thats the challenge of other aspiring contingents. We are thankful to Sinanduloy for the love to Cebu and Sr. Sto Nino.

The Sinanduloy is more deserving to have the title. The have a clear concept. I can't understand the concept of this contingent.

Yes, its true that Sinanduloy started the lighted backdrops and hand props... To be able to see its improvements of making original routines and backdrops and props, they should enhance it..
Only the Placer made to enhance it. The 4 dimensional hacienda. The 3 dimensional lighted sto. Niño backdrops and the lighted handprops that coincides there.
Concept wise...placer is better rather than the fictitious butterfly concept that really does not depict filipino culture, cebuano culture, traditions and beliefs... Not really promotes the concept of the category na SINULOG BASE.
Costume wise...kulturang placereño really depicts the Filipino history that during the old times...hacienderos and hacienderas are the only people that can dance and the alila are the ones working ...but still thankful to the good harvest they receive....

I'm sorry but I don't like these lighted floral hand props, lighted umbrellas except candles. The essence of Sinulog based category is very Las Vegas. I don't feel the goosebumps anymore.

Its the other way around. Until now we cant understand the concept of Sinanduloy. Tikbalang? Nightmare? then butterflies? This one is the clearest concept of all. Thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest of sugarcane. And besides, it was a unanimous decision from the judges, Hehehe

Its not about the Tikbalang or nightmare. But it was on their faith. If you can see in their concept they tried to consult albularyos/witch doctor to find the missing person, yet it didn't help. They prayed and Senior Sto. Nino answered their prayer. The bad spirits left the forests. Im from Bohol and im just saying my views.
alam mo di kalang marunong umunawa o umintindi...para sa amin wala paring tatalo sa sinanduloy because they always showed originality. in terms of music, dance steps. concept and props... at tsakawala pay naka break sa ilahan record,, basig nalimot ka. lol

Sinanduloy is still the best! Nasa kanila ang lahat. That said kulturang placereno has no ORIGINALITY! They were just copying the movements from sinanduloy.

To be honest, dili man kaau nindot ilang choreography, as evidence katong niperform balik ni nga contingent in broad daylight pag awarding, nadala lang jud sa pasosyalan na props and lighting. Mas nindot pa ang sayaw sa carcar ug tangub.
Mam/Sir , We have a judges for that. So you dont have to judge the choreography of masbate. If the choreography of carcar and tangub much more beautiful than masbate, why they dont win ??

the concept of Sinanduloy should have been an entry for FI, naniniwala ba tayo sa tikbalang? SB kasi is more on whats happening in real course of life in relation to our belief to Senior Sto. Nino. and besides tama po si hanjira, it was a unanimous decision from the judges, siguro kung may question tayo, puntahan po natin ang mga judges

with all due respect, di po ba kau naniniwala sa ganun? kahit sa bible, evil spirits, demons are mentioned. para sakin ginamit nila un to resemble evil spirits lurking in the forests (enkanto/enkantada).
Sinanduloy's perf is Sinulog-based pa rin.
