What's the Difference Between American Tango and Argentine Tango? - Here we go over the basic differences in each of the different tango styles. The American Tango is an American Smooth dance that can be danced socially and competitively in the ballroom circuit. The argentine tango was born in the streets and is much more intimate, but can also be competitive as well.

One of the main features of Argentine Tango is that no defined set of “steps” and is a lead/follow relationship between the dancers which really depends on the Lead to truely lead. Addionally in Argentine tango there is quite a bit of “ foot play” wtth drags, pulls, ganchos and sacadas

I think they look different because American Tango uses another kind of music, not tango, so the metric is different, it looks more like a European walts that a Tango dance

Yes in AT there different types but what comes to mind is Milonga, Vals and standard tango rhythm. Neuveo is another popular style I love.

Neither! The Latin dances typically have Cuban motion and ballroom is much more structured. Argentine tango falls more into street or “club” style partner dancing.

The beat goes well with the American style or International style Tango! It's not a "traditional" argentine tango song.

It's a mix of the two styles! The dance position is more of an argentine close position but a lot of the moves are more from the American tango style!
