just stumbled upon you today, and you earned my sub. as sad as it is, many youngsters don't even know what a harp or any other classical instrument is. you deserve more than this, never give up, and keep up with the amazing work you put up.

Hello everyone! I'm glad you are here 💕
This piece is very dear to me since it brings me back to the funeral of both of my grandparents. The most magical memory I have of this music is when I played it for my grandfather on his deathbed.
Together with my father and mother we surrounded my grandfather with lots of flowers and burning candles. While playing the first notes of the sonata, tears filled my eyes with the beauty and magic of that moment. It was one of the most intimate things I ever experienced so far ❤
For whom do you light a candle? 🕯

My great-grandfather Elwin was the first funeral I was old enough to comprehend. He was a tenant farmer who raised four daughters. He later adopted my mother (his granddaughter), making him legally my grandfather and the family tree quite confusing. We later found his old tax records. It boggles the mind how they kept the lights on.
He was the kindest soul I've ever met. Except when the Cubs (baseball team) were losing, but that's understandable. He also didn't like losing at Rummy (card game). I'm very good at Rummy. So was his wife. Poor guy.
My aunt played Amazing Grace on the violin at the funeral service. It is still the most sacred song for me.
I wasn't old or strong enough to help carry the casket, but my cousins insisted I participate and they took the extra load. Fortunately I have sturdy cousins.
He was the sort that always worked and worked hard as if it was the only way he knew how to live. While lying in the hospital bed, clearly in his final days, he asked his son-in-law Jim if he had any work for him to do. Jim replied, "No Elwin, it's ok to rest now." He passed shortly thereafter.
His adopted daughter, my mother, graduated from college when I was 12. Raising me, working, and going to school, she graduated With Highest Distinction and is now among the top in her field. Don't mess with them farmer's daughters.
      Go Cubs!
And thank you for the inspiration to write this! ❤

@@Inge.louisa We would say "takes" some practice, but your logic is much better. I'm going to start saying it your way!

@@AscendingOlympus22 oh yes 😅 but costs sounds like you have to sacrifice something or it is not fun to practice... ☹ but it can be very fun!
So maybe lets say... Some time is spent on happy practice!
