Thanks! In short, changing the conditions from low to high/high to low does nothing in flight. All it really does is change the idle speed from 62% (low idle) to 70% (high idle) for the gas generator (N1 RPM). It also enhances engine cooling by maintaining a steady airflow through the engines. In other turboprops that I have flown- Q400, Pilatus PC-12 and Saab 340- the condition levers combine the fuel and propeller controls in one operation. Because of that, they are a bit more complex/advanced.
Thanks for publishing these videos. Amazing explanations for an amazing plane. I didn't see one yet as im going through each video slowly; do you have an engine start video?
Thanks for watching! Here is my engine start video: th-cam.com/video/DsSRkEmOGyc/w-d-xo.html My King Air 350 tutorial playlist is in the video description of each video.
Almost all, notably the engine run up (video just released today), are done before the passengers arrive. The shaking and vibration are a bit daunting to some. If we have done them with pax onboard, we would brief them ahead of time.
Hi. I have a question that I hope you can help me with. I have the X-Plane 12 version of the AirFoilLabs King Air 350, but after completing the Preflight Checklist, I can only retain 21-22VDC which isnt' enough amps to start the plane. Even with the GPU attached and having turned on the X-Plane 12 Groud Support ground power, the batteries will not charge. My only option is to use the GPU start checklist if I want to get the engines started. Have you figured out how to do a battery start after running the Preflight Checklist? Thanks, and thank you for your tutorials.
@@chazflyz Thanks. I have since figured out that if I don't do the outside lights check, I can usually keep enough voltage to get number 2 started. Of course, there's always a start using the default GPU in X-Plane 12.
@Randy97402 great. But that sounds like a bug. You should be able to do the lights checks and still have plenty of voltage for a battery start. The lights shouldn't drain the battery that quickly.
Unique content, thanks a lot! And what are the scenarios of using the HIGH IDLE mode during flight operation?
Thanks!

Great tutorial, I have a question. Why you should put gen ties to main close at night?

@@chazflyz thanks. Had the series of three on my watch later list for tonight. Didn’t know engine start was #1.
Great stuff ChaZ! Lots going on with these checks. Are these checks done with passengers on or off the plane? Thanks?

Likely a bug in the software. I would report it to the developers. I routinely did battery starts in the 350.
