For anybody curious about Kratz’s story: It’s a guy named “Jon Ashford” and he played in 1 single game at 19 years old. Then reappeared at Rookie ball at age 21 and had an .840 OPS in 161 PAs, then disappeared completely.
He couldnt just fake an injury like Rendon?

The only times this kind of nonsense has been appropriate are:
a) elite-level trash-talking, when HoF-caliber pitchers know their stuff is so dominant that hitters can't even hit them when they know what's coming, and
b) the first pitch or two from Bartolo Colon to Dee Gordon in that game following the death of José Fernández....that was a noble and gracious move by Big Sexy. Dee's homer *needed* to happen for the sake of healing throughout MLB.
Also, the ripple effects from pitch sequencing knowledge can screw up development of all the pitchers. As a Twins fan, I'm thankful they didn't stand for it.
So here is something to think about the kids coming into baseball right now are the ones whose parents had them playing non stop all year round not letting them have a break how many of them actually wanted to be there. Something more to think about.
That is what I tell my wife about our 11 year old he plays travel ball. We make it a point to let him have an offseason, we don’t send him to all the fall ball practice games.
Some of the year round teams are ridiculous. No wonder some kids are burnt out by HS

Maybe he had an epiphany and realized that his career was going nowhere and he was done playing instead of "living the dream" playing in Japan or Mexico or in AAA with no real shot of the Majors. Went out with a bang.
