I didn't like it either at first, but now that I have full honor resistance I'm kinda liking it. Then again I'm a huge sucker for roguelike games such as Hades, the Rogue Prince of Persia, Monster Train, Slay the Spire etc.
Damage is a huge deal in these trials, just like in Poe1's sanctums, if you 1 shot everything, nothing can hit you. So it's a good idea to overlevel quite a bit before engaging in your lets say 3rd and 4th ascendancy points.
I did my first trial as a melee character and it was definitely very painful. I ended up having to swap to earthshatter just to have some range for the boss. But I think with honor resistance and a lot of armor it might be OK, yes you get hit but if you don't take much damage/honor damage that's ok.
My first run ascension took my 5 hours. My build was a shield warrior speced heavily into armour and block. So when I got a chalice run that took a good chunk of my health. Then fighting the boss while constantly staying in melee range while not getting hit was really tough. Nice thing though I got a bunch of relics and loot. Some real nice loot too. when I was successful with my first ascension I had 881 honour and finished with only bronze keys and 147 honour. it was a tough slog. I did enjoy it though.
I have some questions regarding honor: 1. How does CI interact with honor (having 1 life)? 2. Do elemental (and chaos for that matter) resistances stack with “honor resistance” to reduce the honor lost? Meaning If you stack both then your effective honor should be x16 (assuming “just” 75% on both resistances)
What's funny is that Gauntlet went from one of my favourite rooms to my least favourite room the moment I hit floor two. First floor, the traps are easy to avoid, and I can often complete it without losing any honour whatsoever. A gauntlet on the second floor tends to lose me like 1k honour (I have *some* honour resistance, but not much. I recognised that it's important, but it's all self-found relics) Some of the trap combinations just seem completely impossible. Like those rotating fireball firing things, but then there's those exploding fire sigils on the only path. Like - how are you supposed to avoid that? Do you think you'll record a full run at some point? I'd actually love to see how you deal with those traps, and the decision-making in choosing your path.
Floor 2 is very rough. One tip for the rotating fireball things you can roll through the projectiles and not take damage (sadly when I rolled on the rune traps I took damage). I think F1/3 gauntlets are pretty ok. F2 is rough, F4 completely insane you need to stand in traps to do some of the gate puzzles.
So, fun detail, but for the floor 2 bosses, the duo, if you kill them both at the same time in phase 1 somehow, you don't have to fight the one left alive in a big phase 2. Accidentally discovered that on my big manual Comet build.
Yea the second went berserk in the original sanctum in poe1 as well on the duo boss. Also a bit of a trop in RPGs by now I guess. If I get 2 bosses I complulsively try to kill them as close to each other as possible because the other might go rampant :p
i got to my 3rd ascendancy and cleared first trial and got super excited............. just for it to say i had to 2 more trials. i failed bad on a gauntlet
It's laggier but yeah feels better so far. The second comet wasn't doing all that much and I still have the invocation comet for when I need a big burst of damage.
The pressure plate / gas / poison traps you mention... are what instantly nuked me on level 3.. I havent gone back since.. because id worked so hard to get there, and didnt even know why I had instantly died from basically full honor/health.. I had assumed you were meant to trigger the plates... given many are in front of levers etc.. definitely need to tune that I feel.
The only thing I'm confused about with trials is that there's so many different people saying different shit about all of them :') The one says chaos is bugged, the other says they got their points in chaos, then someone says something about not completing an entire map but only a certain amount of rooms. So inherently most of them have to be speaking without knowing, and until I screw a bunch of currency I can't miss on finding out I won't know who is which. So the hardest part of these trials isn't even the trials but finding out which ones to run and up until which point of the trial to get your points.
This might have the info you're looking for; maxroll.gg/poe2/getting-started/trials-of-ascendancy I'm not sure about bugs, there are a lot of rumors about them atm. But also sometimes people do something wrong and assume it's a bug. All I can say is personally, I haven't run into any bugs with either Trial of the Sekhemas or Trial of Chaos since day 2.
@@Tenkiei Yeah that's what I figured that a lot of people just screw up because they're new and don't understand what they're doing and then yell it's bugged :') But until I've invested and found out myself, it's hard to tell who's wrong right? But I wasn't aware maxroll had the info out already, I'll go check that right away thanks! *I did notice in the Room Challenges Types Ziggy missed the one where 2 good old chaps are channeling into a portal summoning bad stuff out of it and you have to stop all the rituals. Probably one of my least favorite of the bunch so I avoid it like the plague, but it is an option in the trials.
Good tips! Place is terrible. I just had one where I clicked a shrine to restore honour and it immediately killed my run as it also gave me no energy shield, which took all my honour away.
Why can't I do chaos trial for my third Ascendencies? It just says it's not eligible o0. They are even higher level then sekamas. I thought we always have a choice... I just can't do sekamas. I just can't.
The progression/level for both are a little bit different. Sekhemas is floors 1/2/3/4. Trial of Chaos is waves 4/7/10/Trialmaster. So you need a 10 wave trial of chaos to do your 3rd ascendancy. I think the logic is that the baseline difficulty for Chaos is lower, and your build can outscale it so they made it higher level.
@@Tenkiei Also, you can buy the trial. Below "Item Category" and "Item Rarity" you can choose "Item Level". Put 75+ and it should give you results for 10 floors, its cheap
That's why it's nonsense to ascend earlier because you have small chance to get 1 ascendancy in lower level . You need to level up higher. Poe1 has better mechanics, even at lower level you can ascend already
In the past, Sanctum relics were more for vision, so I figured it would be a lategame thing. But Honor resist makes them super important even for your first couple. Edit, also I haven't done Sanctum much in like 1 year.
Thanks! Helps a lot. I absolutely hate this system with a passion and have no idea what they smoked including such a mech to get to ascend.
Lmao. They really smoked something good.
I really don't like this activity. I'll take all the help I can get

You should try do the trial as a meele character, is even more painful

does the sorcery ward from merc adds to honor too ?
How did you manage to reach 7000 energy shield? 😮
Lots of ES on gear + nodes to enhance it on the tree. I'll have a video on it soon.
@Tenkiei thanks a lot for your vids man!

Good Info, ty!
You mentioned you could buy relics. Are you referring to player trading or something’s else I am not aware of
Trading with other players.
The fire wall on CoF is for clearing maps/aoe? Is it better than comet?

I dont like doing this i think ill just wait until they change it. 😢

except u need to f8n8sh the trial to unlock relic slots..
