Sonu was ace in the lower pitch notes unmatched, and Rahat was ace in hitting and sustaining the higher notes, you notice that at 2:38 he struggles to reach that high note of Rahat especially when he says "jaan HAII" infact Sonu turns to look at him in surprise and smiles, because he reached there so effortlessly
Sonu Nigam is incredible no doubt. And I will daresay that he might even be more sureela than Rahat Saab, who is a very sureela artist himself. But when Rahat Saab hits those high notes and stretches towards Taar Saptak, I get goosebumps, his feel is incredibly strong. But both are top notch artists in their own fields, no comparison. And both of them respect each other a lot.
But Rahat is a Tenor and Sonu is a baritone. Rahat is born with that high pitch, whereas sonu is more suitable for middle and lower range. But actually, I've seen Sonu nigam hit an E5 but I haven't seen rahat go beyond D5. And in lower notes, Sonu can go as deep as C#1 which is a lot lower than Rahat or any other singer. So sonu is the ultimate champion whether it's high notes or low
