Thanks guys for the hard work you do making these videos. They are encouraging to watch, plus informative. I took my 7 year old grandson out for a couple hours last week, just before dark on lake tomahawk in the town bay. Bluegill were on the camera. Weren’t biting, switched to a small dinner bell. First drop down a largemouth showed up on camera. We watched it slowly creep up and lightly take it, set the hook. And reeled slowly as we had 2lb test. Line did break after I grabbed it and pulled it out of the hole. Needless to say he pulled his first bass through the ice, measuring 14”. Was very plump. That made his entire day, he didn’t stop talking about it the whole night. He was having not the best of days, but the look on his face getting that bass was priceless. Thank you again for making your videos, and telling us what you use for equipment, as that’s how I got dinner bells. Have a great open water season.
Thank you for the comment! Made my day hearing the story, that’s what we really are making the videos for! Helping people get memories like that! Hope you have a great open water season!
With the season wrapping up, just want to say thanks for the content. We watch you guys religiously. Most of all, thanks for responding to my teenage kids for the recommendations on rod and reel setups. Although it was a lackluster winter up here in Northern Wisconsin, we still had a great time.
Hey, thank you! We appreciate that comment a lot! We are glad to help and we hope our efforts continue to push you guys in the right direction! We love nothing more than helping out the younger community and beginner fisherman, but we hope to bring joy to all fisherman regardless of experience. Fishing is about making memories and enjoying time spent on the water, big fish are just the icing on the cake! Tight Lines 🎣
After catching over 150 walleye on Upper Red Lake over 4 days on the Frostbite Smokeshow/Diesel combos, no complaints. Dinner bells were money. We had a great time camping on the ice, thanks to you guys and of course Minndak.
Never quite understood why guys use fluorocarbon leaders when fishing for pike ! Steel leaders are a must unless you enjoy disappointment when the big ones bite !!!
This lake has some very clear water and after a few seasons using the under water camera, we have seen significantly more fish willing to bite by using fluorocarbon leaders over metal leaders. This year we stepped up to fluorocarbon musky leader line that has not broke once and has given us exponentially better odds of triggering pike to eat and landing these big fish! Hopefully the big girl from last season comes top side one of these days! 🤞🏼
I disagree. I use 20lb floro because you get more bites than steel. I personally have never had any Pike break me off on 20lb floro. Don’t horse ‘em and make sure your line isn’t compromised (abrasions, cuts etc) I’ve even caught a 40in pike on my walleye setup with a 8lb floro leader. 🤷🏼♂️
Through your guys experience open water or hard water when a big pike or musky runs deep with your bait does that mean it’s a big fish or small fish or it’s doesn’t matter. Thanks I really enjoy your TH-cam channel
Thank you very much! Hopefully the ice season isn’t over yet, we may have a few more trips ahead of us if the weather can hold, if not, the spring bite is about to be HOT 🔥🥵
Great video guys! The wife tried a hot dog on a tip up last week. No luck. They weren't fun dogs though. Time to go for late season crappie! Was out the other day when it was 64 degrees and slayed em. Tight lines!!!
Nice video, and thank you for the entire season on the ice. Was up in your county myself a couple weeks ago, and weird conditions, but got into some northern and walleye action on tipups. Nearly slipped and died a couple times, with no snow to speak of on the lake. Maybe I’ll see you out there next winter.
We love to hear that! And glad you didn’t suffer from any injuries! Keep pounding fish and enjoying life to the fullest! Hope to see you on the water some day 😃
There’s lots of tactics that work. I would start slow and practical. Tungsten jigs and live bait, then move to Plastics and hair jigs. Potentially can get them on Blades and rip and raps too if the bite is on, more of a reaction bite. Gold works well on the fox. So does purple and black!

Been a beautiful winter...almost to nice. Ready to slay on the river now.
Absolutely! Dubay dam is hot!
I'm driving north this weekend to finish off the season. Saddens me that the ice season was so short this year, especially down south!
What a weird year, hopefully this spring you can get some good fish in southern WI!

Steel leaders saves lives.

Use your 1x4 beaver dam for measure, very common old school method
Good idea!
Were to safely grab pike is it by gill side of mouth
Nice !
Thank you!
