Mair speaks as though Maori were the only ethnic group in NZ before the British arrived. I believe the reason we don't hear about other cultures and ethnic groups is because one group suppressed others by means of radical you know what. Either by means of deception or barbarianism, a dominant group suppresses another. It's useless pointing the finger, but the statue needs to be put in a museum for sure.
Maori were the original settlers of Aotearoa before the arrival of European, mainly British colonialists in 1814 (the official arrival date of Rev Marsden, et al of the LMS Church).. Obviously you have no idea what you're talking about??
