Was an absolute joy seeing Vinny play my game, seeing as I've been a fan for years. Shame he had such a difficult time with the boss fight, We've since patched it to be easier.
You did an absolute bang up job. Faith is a gift and I'm glad it's still going strong in horror circles
Have to admit, you were pretty faithful to the OG my dude.
The fight in the original game is just as annoying IMO, but I didn’t love it there either. Patching it is good.
The gameplay here is great, my friend. You guys did excellently with this. My only feedback would be to perhaps consider leaning the aesthetic more into the "if it were an Nintendo 64 game" aspect, to a similar degree that the original leans into its "if it were a Commodore 64 game" aspect.
There's a lot of liberal changes to the original that I didn't really like. The title/author lines in notes (which have spoilers), the spoilers in the pre-Amy note, the changes to the soundtrack especially before/after/during the Amy fight, phase 2 not having the feint attack, phase 3 being completely different and RNG-based (why?), the mirror boss having no visual feedback to being damaged and a few other things. Still really awesome that you loved the game enough to make this and that it exists, but lots of room for improvement.

I was hoping they would've "upped the quality" of the ghost's model and/or animations in the cutscenes to emulate the jarring fluidity of the rotoscoped scenes.

the "liminal man" *couldve* been interesting but more in the sense of a nondescript, hazy figure or shadow that you can only barely perceive in half or low light, that specifically moves towards you when you look at or are near him, and if you take any time looking at something (even writing or notes) while standing still or barely moving, he homes in on you. you know, like he's trying to prey on your attempts to see and understand what you're looking at.
Also slowly teetering away at your sanity until you make more wack choices

Man this is incredible someone made such a great fan recreation of the first FAITH. Praise AirDorf for making such an iconic and awesome lore series with fans that are just radical

Vin, if you do watch the Exorcist, you need to do so alone with the lights off or it doesn't count. This is the one and only movie that's ever legitimately instilled true fear in me. I too first saw it around that same age.. And while I do plan to eventually, I'm 38 and still yet to watch it alone myself lol.

Neat idea but it is so out of the range for N64 graphics as the system could never do graphics this smooth, detailed and non blurred. It surpasses N64 so much but still neat.
I would of called this game mortis64
After like 40 minutes I wished I was watching a more complete playthrough. Now I remember how game grumps fans who complain about Arin feel. Probably gonna go look up the endings now.

Meh, not a fan. The original played much better to the strengths of its medium than this does to the N64. This doesn't feel like a N64 game, just an indie game that's ugly

You know what would've been cool, if in spirit of the original's rotoscoping this one would utilize motion capture and more polygons; but on the ghost stuff only, at like a higher framerate. So she really stands out the way the rotoscoping got ya
Exactly. Keep the frame rate limited to 24 FPS, but whenever the ghosts appear, the framerate uncaps and it jumps to the maximum framerate your monitor can handle. In addition, the models flip to a special higher rez version stylized as they were in the roto scoping. Suddenly, there's fingers, bump mapping, and all that jazz. It becomes way more jarring.

I LOVE that they interpreted the OG Faith sprites in such a… well, FAITHful way. John’s blue, the cross is a solid yellow, everything is in a sea of pitch black. It’s a feature, and really DOES feel like a 3D experience through Faith!

Hey, I had the same experience with my brother at a similar age. He made me watch Scream though. I've always hated slashers so maybe that has something to do with it.

Buddhism does do exorcisms, usually chants and recitations and a ritual in which you try to evict the spirits or demons from the premises.
In Japan you'll probably see Japanese Buddhist priests using what looks like mops to wipe at the air, that's basically them trying to cleanse the area of the misfortune and the bad spirits. In other forms of Buddhism they have exorcisms similar to the Catholic style in which they try and demand the name of the demon/spirit and try to banish it by invoking a higher power and reciting from their texts to try and cleanse a person or place.
So basically if you had a Buddhist and Catholic exorcising someone they'd both be demanding the demon's name, and then one would ask for Jesus to purge it and the other would ask for the demon's manager to take it away.

Finally. The 64th installment of the faith franchise.
To me this doesn't really feel like a Nintendo 64 game. When I think 64 I think of Ocarina of Time or Banjo Kazooie, open worlds with lots of textures, while this is just the original Faith in 3D. It's super cool, and I'm sure calling it 64 gets more interest, but to me this seems more like an early 3D computer game. Still a great fangame.
I do like how they actually did update the tone of the game a bit from the "original". More 90's horror. Also, higher quality audio and music samples.
It's a really neat interpretation of the original game and I like some of the creative choices. Only naggle I have personally is that it would have been nice to see them find a way to replicate the uncanny horror that came from the sudden increase in fidelity with the rotoscoping from the original.

Incidentally if anyone is interested in a N64 retro game, I found this dude making an OoT-like and he's attempting to work in the N64 parameters as much as possible. His channel is the Legend 64 Project. I hope the dude gets far enough into development that Vin could one day play it

Can Vinny not see the circles being drawn during the boss fight? They're faint but after a few deaths you should really notice that's what's killing you
The evil cackle after "mortis" is such a nice touch, and the arrangement of Amy's boss theme is startlingly accurate to the original while still having that old possession movie feel. It's like a fucked-up phonograph. And the cinematography is a really good idea for a 3D reinterpretation of the originals! What you lose from the rotoscopy, you regain in shot composition.

This game is a great love letter to the Faith games with the visuals and the music. My only issue is tank controls are not fun on mouse and keyboard.

Vinny was quite into Pizza Tower before its completion but by the time it was finally all done, he wasn't as into it anymore. Things happen, things change, and all we can do is live with it.
Wouldn’t really say that, I do agree kinda it was an experience and he still appreciates the game in a way I mean he made a video dedicated to peppino being in various modes, and tbh if he did do the update it would be him getting backseats by chat telling him where all the pumpkins are and the levels itself a tad uninteresting. It’s not a huge update but still pretty fun. He also was very very tired so that added to him shelving it which was sad :(

Im loving that indie developers are going for PS1 and N64 style. I hope we just continue to get a mix of new games in that style from that era, as well as pixel NES/SNES style games, and of course high end graphics. I love the variety!
