Thanks Steven! This is exactly why I made this video. I too was like you and could not find any clear concise information on straps. So I had to do some hard research and lumped all my intel into this video. I'm thinking of doing the Perlon strap next since I really like the way those braided style straps pair with certain watches.
The Zulu is installed incorrectly- the point of the double rings is for the strap to pass through and then back loop over the second ring and out through the first like a D-ring buckle- that way if the strap gets snagged on something the strain is taken up by the strap part that passes under the watch instead of snapping a spring bar off the watch. This is the total point of the Zulu strap and what differentiates it from a NATO one.
Wow, I like how you jumped into the video right away rather than talking some useless stuff for 2 mins about some random stuff no one wants to hear! I respect that! Subbed!
Correction. A true Zulu strap passes under the spring bars ONCE. The NATO passes thru twice, which is overkill in my opinion, and usually they are so long you must tuck the excess into the side which I find unsightly. To each his own. The Zulu performs the same function without 2 passes underneath the watch head raising the watch unnecessarily high limo.
11:24 - In the ZULU you should pass the strap over the second the keeper (of the second strap end) and under the first keeper (relative to the end or the strap).
I liked your video. It is well explained with a warm, close, plain language and good quality image with your Samsung Galaxy S10 + smartphone. It is evident that you bring us your best.
Good question. Idk probably the Swiss or Germans. Parts like spring bars are often outsourced to the cheapest and quickest when it comes to virtually all watch and strap makers.
@@olaf2046 Zulu is a single strip of the fabric which passes through the bars and under the watch. NATO is the same with and a second piece over the back of the watch and the first piece passes through the ring at the end.
thejasonbischoff I bought the digital Caliper on eBay a few years ago. There were so many on there that the prices were good. I paid $5 or $6 for mine.
You keep mistaking the two in your Video. This gets very confusing when you don't know the deference. Sudjust a couple of fixes. 1. Re dub over your own Voice 2. Write on the paper underneath your watch band which is which. 3. Edit Labels in your video
That is not how you tread a zulu strap. You need to do a lot more research before you post false information or even a youtube video. DO YOUR RESEARCH.
I've been binge-watching videos about watch straps over the last few days and this one is by far the most informative and helpful. Thanks!

Finally! A video that really explains the difference and shows how to use a Zulu correctly!

Best demonstration on nato vs Zulu that I’ve seen. Thank you sir
Best description of WHY these straps are better. Security! Thank you!
thank you for your help, i didn't really know the difference.

This is the best video about this straps, thank you! I got nato strap for my Vostok and I just looove it!
Still do not understand what for is that extra ring on Zulu strap...
Very nice .Concise and very informative.
Thank you, I couldn't find this info anywhere else!
Good Job , Very Informative , Great video
Great video! I want to swap out my metal band and only use it for dress.
I like a single strap zulu band better bc they sit lower on the wrist.
So a Zulu strap is a thicker Nato strap with brushed rings?
I think I want the Zulu I do a lot of hiking and swimming !
Really nice video but i cant find the watch you wore at the beginning of the video🧐
Informasi sangat bermanfaat, 👍👍👍 tnx full Broo🙏
And how about the leather version? That have the same key differences?
Who makes the strongest springbars?

@@olaf2046 but seiko ones are quite good. Havent tried swizz ones yet, but i will.
Sorry mate what you’ve got there are two NATO straps.
How so Will? Designs are clearly different between the two straps here.

I have a problem with the holes fraying. I wonder why they don't reinforce the holes with a metal ring
Cost.
Been wanting one for my Luminox.

Very nice videos bro , are you getting the new Citizen Tsuno Bullhead with the E210 caliber ?
Thank you! Great video!
Very useful, thank you.
Step one: buy a strap that isn’t so dorky.
Dorky is the style these days Jay. Look at those big red ASTRO boy boots trending. Lol
Thank you , subscribed
Timeless information.
*Ba dum tsss*
Thank you so much!
Great job, thanks.
Great video!
ok. so zulu is heavy duty nato.
nice video, but you need to add some automatic watches to your collection instead of those cheap quartz watches.
Not all Quartz are bad or cheap. They’re more accurate than automatics, just depends on what the wearer needs most. Luxury or practicality
Cool that’s awesome
Thanks man

Military watches traditionally have Fixed bars, Ad with the Military the straps are redundant.
