Listen to the original Broadway Cast recording of Disney's Aladdin. It has a lot of cut songs including Proud of Your Boy and High Adventure. And the genie us just as good as Robin Williams. The good thing is that he doesn't mimic Robin Williams but creates his own character.

There are not only more songs from these movies, but the original got two sequels that also had songs. Their quality is not as good as the original film, but watching them might still make for a fun video.
Really? You NEVER watched the animated Aladdin movies?(Yes, movies, there's three of them) Uh...that's surprising. That or you're, like, really young The monkey is called Abu 7:30 Three wishes. And no wishing for more wishes, that's against the rules 8:47 He describes his powers as "Phenomenal cosmic powers" As for the live action Aladdin, people either loved it or hated it, there was no middle ground
To be fair, i also didn't grow up watching disney movies. I think i only watched movies like mulan for the first time when i was about 16. I don't blame him for not knowing
That’s me, I’m the middle ground. I liked the original better but I didn’t hate the live action. I prefer the original’s songs but ADORE Speechless. If I could take some aspects of the live action and put them into the original, it would be the perfect movie in my opinion.
Hes in his late 20s i believe, and tbf unless youre a big disney fan, you dont really know about the Direct to DVD Aladdin sequels. Especially since they were kind of shitty lol
The actress who played Jasmine also played a girl named Mo in disneys original movie Lemonade mouth. I would love it if you listened to a couple songs from that movie as well ☺️
So here's the thing... I am a HUGE Aladdin fan. Watched it basically 3 times a day as a kid. And Aladdin is my favorite character (of course Genie too, but I always think Aladdin doesn't get enough love). Aladdin may seem cocky in the clips you saw, but he's actually filled with self doubt and longing for a better life. He played the part of a prince in order to be allowed to win the girl he loved since that was the law. He loved her even before he knew she was a princess. And throughout his story, he realized that he needed to stop pretending to be someone he wasn't and learn to love himself and be honest. His story has always been super motivational for me, and I love his development. That being said, you are right to think that the live action Aladdin was an interesting conversation starter between Disney fans. As fans of the original (especially Robin Williams), many people were quick to disregard the live action and hate on it. One of the biggest problems people had was actually Will Smith as Genie, stating that no one but Robin could be Genie. I understood the sentiment, but I think those fans forget that there are many INCREDIBLE Genie performances like in the Broadway. I appreciated that Will Smith took the time to address it, saying that he was actually quite fearful of the role since he respected what Robin brought to the character. It showed he cared about what he was getting into in my opinion, and I love that he brought himself into a new Genie. He wasn't trying to be Robin Williams. He created a new flavor of Genie that you could tell was based off some of his past roles. People also tended to hate on the music of the new movie. I honestly think playing the music outside of the movie is an injustice. They are quite odd by themselves, but once you see them in the context of the film, they fit quite well. I'm sure there are still plenty of people who will give me hate on this comment. Of course the original will always be my favorite, but I actually really liked the new one. I enjoyed the different aspects they gave to the story, and how that brought in new fans to it in general. It was similar to the original but not the same in a way that made it refreshing to watch. Definitely worth it in my opinion. :)
Great video!!! it's interesting to hear the perspective of someone who has never watched Aladdin before. Also are you going to react to the rest of the songs? The ones you have left from the OG that you haven't seen: 1.Arabian Nights 2.One Jump ahead (reprise) (It's short but still important for Aladdin's character) 3.Prince Ali (reprise) (Also short but it's the only song Jafar gets in the OG) The ones you have left from the remake that you haven't seen: 1.Arabian Nights Will Smith's version 2.One Jump Ahead 3.Speechless Part 1 4.Prince Ali 5.One Jump Ahead Reprise 2 6.Speechless Part 2
The version of Speechless from the movie is even better. It was shot in one take and she sings live for it. It’s breathtaking. The remake of Prince Ali was also fire
I wish you had watched the actual scene from the movie for Speechless, Naomi's acting and the imagery they use are SO powerful, and it makes me cry every time 🥲 so so good. ❤
About the Genie. The Genie is a nice djinn. Even explaining how a wish can be misinterpreted to Aladdin in the LA remake. In the sequel to the original there's another djinn that misinterprets the wishes to screw over the owner of the lamp, so no having the lamp does not protect you.
I think the logic of "just dress Aladdin up and call him a prince of a far-off land" worked on the idea that like, A Knight's Tale did - that there were so many princes of tiny little kingdoms that had various nobility, and it wasn't like they had google, so it was highly unlikely they'd ever discover he was a fake that way. And yeah, Genie was literally just being Aladdin's hype man.
I'm so happy you reacted to one of my favourite Disney films! And I didn't even think the live action remake was too bad. One that is VERY underrated is the Disney film of Robin Hood. it's another favourite of mine but I rarely hear people talk about it. I would love if you reacted to it :3
One of the plot points of this movie is that Aladdin is a 'diamond in the rough.' He is a fundamentally good person who has just sadly been screwed over by the circumstances of his birth. He steals... but we only ever see him stealing _food._ As in, he COULD go about doing proper robbery and much more serious and lucrative crimes, and get away with it too. He has that capability, as he shows in 'One Jump Ahead'. But he refuses to compromise his morals any more than he has to to get by. If he didn't have to resort to thievery he wouldn't do it at all. He constantly passes up self benefit in favor of being as moral as possible and choosing the right thing even over his own welfare. As an example, that bread he worked so hard to steal in 'One Jump Ahead'? Wait till you see what he ends up doing with it, which is a massive character establishing moment for who he is. Even when he's surrounded by an endless treasure hoard one handful of which would set him up for life... he doesn't take any of it because he's been told he can't have any of it. Personally passing the morality test of the Cave of Wonders with flying colors and proving that he is absolutely worthy of the ultimate treasure of the Cave, the one that makes that gigantic hoard seem like a worthless pile of pebbles in comparison: Genie's Lamp. Once he no longer has to steal, he NEVER DOES AGAIN, because he doesn't want to be a thief.
I'd love to see you react to some of the songs from the sequel movies, like 'You're Only Second-Rate', 'Welcome to the Forty Thieves', and 'Are You In Or Out.'
i love the remake for giving jasmine her own song, and a beautiful one at that. naomi has such a gorgeous and powerful voice-and don’t mind my pun-that makes you speechless when listening to her song.
After watching this I think you should watch Aladdin (obviously) and Starkid's Twisted. What you said in One Jump Ahead is actually referenced in it and it's hilarious.
practically any nick cartoon from early 2000s. Most Disney cartoons from same time, didn’t like Cartoon Network as much. ppl just think I’m way younger than I am lol
Don’t know how you would ever incorporate this in a video - maybe as the entire album? - but Disney got a lot of artists to remix some of their most classic songs, and Neyo’s rendition of Friend Like Me is, for me at least, just a hairs breath beneath Robin Williams’ as my favorite version. An amazingly smooth jazzy/big band rendition that I think you would absolutely enjoy!
The Genie actually only makes the most positive or accurate interpretations of wishes, and he’s basically a prisoner in the lamp. There’s a whole plot point about that in the movie.
Probably been posted before but didn't see it: A "Nom De Plume" is an alias/alternate identity, the phrase specifically referring to pen names that authors use in place of their real names.
Highly recommend you check out the songs that are JUST in the broadway/west end version of aladdin too. Theres some beautiful songs in that. Aladdin even has a ballad.
Matthew, the last song is sung by Naomi Scott who played in another Disney channel musical movie Lemonade Mouth which is amazing and you should definitely check it out if you haven't already
U need to watch Aladdin Now!!! It’s so good. One of my fav’s. Mulan and Pocahontas are also ones I liked a lot when I was younger. U need to see all the Disney Renaissance movies like now! They are amazing!
I just realized: Robin Williams bookends the animated trilogy. He sings the first song in the first movie with "Arabian Nights," and sings the last song at the end of the third film with "Arabian Nights (reprise)."
i really liked the animated aladdin when i was younger, then didnt watch it for at least 7 years or so and then the kive action came out and i absolutely loved it and went to the cinema twice to watch it haha speechless is my absolute favorite aladdin song and im glad jasmine got her own song in the live action naomi scott absolutely killed it (i watched the movie at the cinema in german and the german version is also amazing but sang so differently than naomi sings it and i listened to the english songs on my way home from the cinema and absolutely loved both versions)
6:10 as a DEFENDER OF ALADDIN I will say after you got cut off Aladdin gives the bread to two hungry orphan children legitimately going hungry. He try’s REALLY HARD to stop aboo from stealing and actually the whole point is the cave of wonders needs a diamond in the rough meaning “pure of heart” or “pure of heart adjacent.” Aboo is the problem child.
I'm shocked you don't know the plot of Aladdin, but here goes: Aladdin is an orphaned street rat who has to steal food to survive with the help of his monkey sidekick, Abu. The song "One Jump Ahead" is the first time we see Aladdin. Princess Jasmine (the one who sang "Speechless") meets Aladdin in the marketplace, and he saves her from some trouble, and they develop feelings for each other. However, Jasmine is soon to turn sixteen, meaning, according to the law, she has to get married to a prince--and only a prince--before her sixteenth birthday in a few days. However, she loves Aladdin, and she couldn't care less about any of the pompous prince suitors her father is trying to set her up with. Meanwhile, Jafar (the guy with the parrot) is trying to get the genie lamp so he can wish himself to be the sultan. He tricks Aladdin into getting the lamp for him, as Aladdin is the "diamond in the rough" that is the only person able to enter the lamp's sanctuary. Aladdin gets the lamp, and Jafar betrays him, but Abu steals the lamp from Jafar before falling into the cave the lamp was originally kept in. With no way out, Aladdin accidentally summons the genie (cue "Friend Like Me"), and he tricks the genie into getting him out. Aladdin tells the genie how he wants to marry Jasmine, and that's when the genie tells Aladdin his rules: he can only declare three wishes per person, no more. He also can't wish for death, love, or resurrection. Aladdin finds a loophole in the wishing rules--he may not be able to wish for love, but Jasmine can only marry a prince, so Aladdin wishes to make himself a prince. Aladdin asks the genie what he would wish for, and the genie says that he would like to be free, but the only way he can gain freedom is if someone wishes him free, which nobody has done in the thousands of years he's been in servitude. Aladdin promises to free the genie with his third wish. Now a makeshift prince, Aladdin storms into Agrabah as Prince Ali Ababwa (cue "Prince Ali") and wows everyone, except Jasmine and Jafar. Aladdin tries to woo Jasmine as Prince Ali, but she at first doesn't trust him. However, she eventually warms up to him, and he takes her on a ride of the world in his magic carpet (this is "A Whole New World"). However, Jafar is able to see through Ali's lies and figures out that the genie is what gave Aladdin his new prestige. Jafar throws Aladdin off a cliff into the ocean, where Aladdin is forced to use his second wish to get out alive. Aladdin, now with one wish left, is tentative about using his final wish to free the genie, and the genie and Aladdin fall out. Jafar then steals the lamp and wishes to make himself Sultan, which the genie is forced to grant. Jafar then reveals to Jasmine that Prince Ali was Aladdin all along, and he sends Aladdin flying to the corner of the world, in a freezing tundra. Jafar, now in charge of all of Agrabah, takes revenge on the previous sultan for underestimating him all these years he's been the sultan's loyal vizier. Aladdin manages to sneak back into Agrabah and he tricks Jafar into using his final wish to make himself "the most powerful being in the universe"--however, the most powerful being in the universe is a genie, so Jafar is sealed into a lamp. Aladdin makes good on his word and frees the genie with his final wish, and the sultan, seeing how much Jasmine loves Aladdin, changes the law to say that Jasmine can marry whomever she chooses, and she chooses Aladdin.

There are not only more songs from these movies, but the original got two sequels that also had songs. Their quality is not as good as the original film, but watching them might still make for a fun video.
I don't think Mathew knows how genies work lmao
the way you were going on about Addlin in the first song makes me think you would enjoy Starkids rendition called twisted
The Genie had limits, 3 wishes, can't make anyone fall in love, can't wish for any more wishes, can't raise the dead and is limited by the lamps.
Really? You NEVER watched the animated Aladdin movies?(Yes, movies, there's three of them) Uh...that's surprising. That or you're, like, really young
The monkey is called Abu
7:30 Three wishes. And no wishing for more wishes, that's against the rules
8:47 He describes his powers as "Phenomenal cosmic powers"
As for the live action Aladdin, people either loved it or hated it, there was no middle ground
@@emerythegremlin5727 You're like a shiny Pokemon
@@Ashurman666 Lmao, love that
Hes in his late 20s i believe, and tbf unless youre a big disney fan, you dont really know about the Direct to DVD Aladdin sequels. Especially since they were kind of shitty lol
The actress who played Jasmine also played a girl named Mo in disneys original movie Lemonade mouth. I would love it if you listened to a couple songs from that movie as well ☺️
He’s GOT to listen to Annapantsu! Especially her Prince Ali cover, PLEASE!
Great! Now it's time for Starkid's Twisted
Now please watch Starkids Musical "Twisted", it's a Aladin-parody show and extremely good!😃
So here's the thing...
The ones you have left from the OG that you haven't seen:
1.Arabian Nights
2.One Jump ahead (reprise) (It's short but still important for Aladdin's character)
3.Prince Ali (reprise) (Also short but it's the only song Jafar gets in the OG)
The ones you have left from the remake that you haven't seen:
1.Arabian Nights Will Smith's version
2.One Jump Ahead
3.Speechless Part 1
4.Prince Ali
5.One Jump Ahead Reprise 2
6.Speechless Part 2
dont for get a whole new world!
@@missroyaltea4012 He said he already heard that one. also it's don't forget not dont for get.
Kind of amazing how well these older musical numbers convey exactly what they’re all about in story compared to some of the modern Disney movie songs
One I would highly recommend is "proud of your boy " from the Aladdin stage musical
AAH Aladdin is my favourite Disney movie!
I'm so happy you reacted to one of my favourite Disney films! And I didn't even think the live action remake was too bad. One that is VERY underrated is the Disney film of Robin Hood. it's another favourite of mine but I rarely hear people talk about it. I would love if you reacted to it :3
One of the plot points of this movie is that Aladdin is a 'diamond in the rough.'
He is a fundamentally good person who has just sadly been screwed over by the circumstances of his birth.
Speechless is a good song. But it fits in Aladdin about as well as mustard on ice cream.
You should definitely react to all of Aladdin’s music.all are incredible!
i love the remake for giving jasmine her own song, and a beautiful one at that. naomi has such a gorgeous and powerful voice-and don’t mind my pun-that makes you speechless when listening to her song.
7:37, in the movie, it’s the former. In the source material, it’s the latter
9:46 Dude, that's on you if your trust issues are that bad.
After watching this I think you should watch Aladdin (obviously) and Starkid's Twisted. What you said in One Jump Ahead is actually referenced in it and it's hilarious.
Matthew i need u to give me a list of shows/ movies u watched as a kid to actually believe that u had a childhood 😭
practically any nick cartoon from early 2000s. Most Disney cartoons from same time, didn’t like Cartoon Network as much. ppl just think I’m way younger than I am lol
You are going to absolutely love Twisted if you ever watch it. It's on TH-cam. It's a genius musical parody of Aladdin.
Genie in the first one does wear pants, just only when he is fully walking around, not half summoned
I actually love the live action films so much that they do for old Disney movies!! The songs are incredible
The Genie actually only makes the most positive or accurate interpretations of wishes, and he’s basically a prisoner in the lamp. There’s a whole plot point about that in the movie.
So, Mathew can officially watch Twisted now? Awesome
One of the things you must realize is that the genie literally cannot kill anyone.
Speechless was such a good song when I heard it I was immediately in love with it
Probably been posted before but didn't see it:
A "Nom De Plume" is an alias/alternate identity, the phrase specifically referring to pen names that authors use in place of their real names.
Loved speechless from the live action bc it was about how princess jasmine was done being silent and she spoke up for herself 💜💜💜
Aladdin has a couple of sequels and I think they have songs too.
"Id blame parents except he hasn't got em" Mathew's face was my internal first reaction externallized.
Nom-de-plume is a french word that translates to "pen name." In the context of the song it esentially means alias.
Highly recommend you check out the songs that are JUST in the broadway/west end version of aladdin too. Theres some beautiful songs in that. Aladdin even has a ballad.
"Riff-raff!"
"Street rat!"
"MEAT PACK!"
Matthew, the last song is sung by Naomi Scott who played in another Disney channel musical movie Lemonade Mouth which is amazing and you should definitely check it out if you haven't already
3:25 YOUR REACTION IS SO FUNNY PLEASE😭
When he said bwah, bwah🎶, I felt that.
Opinion thats actually a fact: Robin Williams' voice acting performance as the genie is one of if not the best voice acting performance like, ever!
This is one of my favorite Disney movies, and the Broadway performance is just as good as both the original and live action movies
Now that youve seen some of aladdin may i introduce you to Starkids Twisted??
How did you not do “I can show you the world”? That’s like the most iconic song yet!
U need to watch Aladdin Now!!! It’s so good. One of my fav’s. Mulan and Pocahontas are also ones I liked a lot when I was younger. U need to see all the Disney Renaissance movies like now! They are amazing!
Jasmine’s best song was the peacock princess one from this Disney stories movie, I wished she sung that one in the live action movie
I just realized: Robin Williams bookends the animated trilogy. He sings the first song in the first movie with "Arabian Nights," and sings the last song at the end of the third film with "Arabian Nights (reprise)."
i really liked the animated aladdin when i was younger, then didnt watch it for at least 7 years or so and then the kive action came out and i absolutely loved it and went to the cinema twice to watch it haha
speechless is my absolute favorite aladdin song and im glad jasmine got her own song in the live action
naomi scott absolutely killed it (i watched the movie at the cinema in german and the german version is also amazing but sang so differently than naomi sings it and i listened to the english songs on my way home from the cinema and absolutely loved both versions)
This is so cool! I actually played as Aladdin in an Aladdin musical back in May!!
It's the “prince ali where could he be womp womp" for me 🤣😭
6:10 as a DEFENDER OF ALADDIN I will say after you got cut off Aladdin gives the bread to two hungry orphan children legitimately going hungry. He try’s REALLY HARD to stop aboo from stealing and actually the whole point is the cave of wonders needs a diamond in the rough meaning “pure of heart” or “pure of heart adjacent.” Aboo is the problem child.
I'm shocked you don't know the plot of Aladdin, but here goes:
Aladdin is an orphaned street rat who has to steal food to survive with the help of his monkey sidekick, Abu.
Aladdin makes good on his word and frees the genie with his final wish, and the sultan, seeing how much Jasmine loves Aladdin, changes the law to say that Jasmine can marry whomever she chooses, and she chooses Aladdin.
robin williams genie was by far my favorite disney character as a child and i stand by that as an adult just absolutely perfect
If your looking for old Disney movies the hunchback of Norte dame has FANTASTIC music, highly highly recommend.
After this video and you saying you like Disney movies I need that starkid twisted reaction.
There's demand for it your second channel video for the guy who didn't like musicals is at 90k views ;)
