My family LOVES your family! It's always such a joy when yall have a new podcast or video out. Personal convictions are different from things that God hates. Christians cannot sprinkle a little Jesus on something that is dark and demonic in origin and think God is going to be okay with it. We can learn a lot from the Israelites while waiting on Moses when he was on the mountain. We are suppose to be set apart. Be in the world but not of the world... we have to remember, God is never changing! Much love ❤

Our church in Hutto, TX hosts block parties on Halloween! We believe that it’s the one day people come to your door so we have a responsibility to be a bright light on a dark night. At the block parties we hand out food, candy, and fliers for our church and we don’t serve alcohol or have scary displays. I just love the idea of reaching people who you normally couldn’t reach ❤

I love your comment concerning AA. I have taught Celebrate Recovery, and the fact is in any addiction we must get healed through Jesus Christ and walk daily with the Holy Spirit. We must get connected through the Church and use James 5:16 (the whole verse not just part B). I have been a pastor since 1993 and truly believe many look to systems and not to Christ. Thank you for your voice and stand strong in your conviction!!!

I’m a 67 year old grandmother and I remember struggling so vividly with the whole Halloween issue as far as letting our children participate, neither my husband nor I grew up in Christian homes so participating was the norm for us but receiving Jesus Christ as our Saviour in the mid 70’s we had many questions back then. I do think it’s best to go with your convictions. So God bless you for taking this topic on.🌻

    Granger and Amber,
I really appreciate your response to the Halloween question. My wife and I have been having similar discussions. My wife has been more on the page of making Halloween more fall festival like you guys did and it’s taken me time to come around but your response was what really helped me make a decision.
Thank you for your examples of what it is to be true followers of Jesus Christ.

Turning Halloween into a fall festival is closer to the Celtic, pagan celebration of harvest time. You are removing the original Christian celebration of the martyrs that began sundown the night before the actual hoy day of November 1st, called All Saints Day. The evening before a holy day is All Hallows Eve i.e. Halloween.
You are letting secularism win over the holiday if you do that. Rather, take back the holiday that honored those who gave their lives for Christ! Dress your children as Saints and teach them about the saints who represent the church triumphant!

Love You Guys so much and always appreciate your viewpoint/convictions. I understand the struggle some feel about Halloween. As a Christian store located in a mall- the mall has a candy giveout from all participating stores. After much prayer we have a great peace about giving out "Jesus Loves You" gift bags every year with a few pieces of candy and at least two little toys with cross/scripture and the response is overwhelming. Last year we ran out of candy and as I said-" I'm sorry we ran out of candy but I have these little crosses and a small motorcycle with message". they all said "that's so much better". Sometimes-just be the Light in the darkness.

One of the oldest Christian Holy Days from the time Stephen was martyred & John was beheaded. It's part of the Triduum.
Halloween = the eve of All Hallows Day
      Hallows = Holy
I hope this helps and you remember your Christian friends & family that have gone ahead into eternity on this High Holy Day in the the Christian Church.

It’s my birthday… so I’m good with it! I have lots of fond memories of my Halloween birthdays. Trick or Treating, having good laughs with our neighbours and treat givers, as well as our family. Listening to some folks, I must be demonic for being born on Halloween. Seriously, it’s not a demonic holiday at all. It’s a harvest celebration. One problem with religion is that you allow an organization to interpret and attach meaning to events and people are not allowed to question or challenge it. There could be a distortion of the original concept. There could be misrepresentation based on organizational or personal bias. Having said this, there’s a place for religion in society (the world needs it more than ever) as it brings hope, and develops faith in people. It gives people strength and courage. These are wonderful blessed things.

I am willing to have a conversation with you directly about how these programs work in and out of Christian community. It's not just knowing the 12 steps, but a complete surrender to God, as we understand Him, that leads to acceptance of our powerlessness over the effect of alcoholism.. Thank you for all you do on this platform. I hope this particular topic will not cause your message skew in an unintended direction. Tracy, a grateful member of Al-Anon.

Our church has a Fall festival and shares the gospel with the neighborhood. I usually leave out candy and tracts for kids who may come by our house. We've also started celebrating Reformation Day at home and it's been fun to learn church history and have themed treats. I agree about personal conviction. I let my kids dress up for harvestfest but they know that anything that celebrates the occult/death is off limits. Also, we don't watch horror movies or engage in anything that glorifies death or fear. 🙏 I don't think my kids have ever missed out...there's so much innocent Fall fun out there. Also, the Biblical Feast of Tabernacles and Trumpets are so much fun in the Fall and can teach kids Biblical history. 🍁🍂

Granger I couldn’t agree more with you on how so many local churches have completely failed at having a biblical leadership structure therefore completely failing to shepherd their flock. Unfortunately too many churches are more worried about numbers on a tally sheet and being appealing to the world when they should be focused on shepherding the flock. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying evangelism and reaching the lost is not important but too many churches aren’t align like the Bible prescribes and the flock suffers. Love you two and I appreciate this ministry. I will be adding y’all and your family to my daily prayers. God bless you both!

I struggled for a few years as well on the Halloween issue. Being the mom who says no, while all the other kids talk about all the fun they are going to have and how they will dress up on Halloween makes it hard. Sin is sin and mingling in darkness is not to be tolerated. Adonai put it on my heart to not partake of things of this world, especially the demonic, and explaining that to my daughter was so hard, especially since her heart is so inncocent. We are to train up our children in the way of Adonai, not of this world. That is something I have to remind myself when it comes to "celebrations" rooted in the demonic (including the distorted celebration of Christmas, aka buying a bunch of things and celebrating Santa Clause, instead of focusing on the birth of our Messiah, celebrating the Easter Bunny, ect), music, and entertainment that destroys the mind and blots out our Creator. This world idolizes everything but our Creator!

We take the kids out early and all meet to eat supper together. My husband was a baptist preacher. He loved to watch the kids dress up. Get the candy. Then when we got older. He loved to sit on the porch and pass it out. He’s been gone 18 months. I still get sad at Halloween. Because we made great memories. All in fun.

We lived in the San Antonio area at one time and our church always had a fall party on halloween. The youth would put together booths in the class rooms and in the activity hall there were lots of games and food going on. Out side the parents had their trunks decorated and the kids got to go around trunk or treating. It was awesome because that was it. Our kids did not go around to the neighbors or around town trick or treating. The rule was that no one could paint their faces and no one could dress up in evil costumes. It was a blast, innocent and satisfying for the whole family.

The best thing to someone’s question is direct them to what the Bible directs such as 1 Cor 10:21. Or simply ask what would Jesus do. Then you’d answer your own question. Kids can’t make decisions because they are still learning from us parents.

I see you guys having a place similar to that. I see you bringing the addiction help you speak of, into your church and help people at your place... hints why I think you guys started with building out the barn 🤷

I also believe that the local church needs to get involved in recovery program. We have churches in our Area that have wonderful programs that are for the whole community. One has a men's and women's home.
    Good discussion today.

We go to a Missionary Alliance church that hosts a great pumpkin party every year. Numerous bounce houses, carnival games, a hay ride, Photo Booth, and lots and lots of candy being given out. People dress up in family friendly costumes and everyone in the community is welcome to this event. Numerous families start attending our church, because of this event. Our children LOVED going every year. They have outgrown it as our youngest is in middle school.
As a family on Halloween we all dress up in family friendly costumes and go visit the Grandparents, aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, and very close friends. Our children get unbelievable amounts of treats and gifts by just stopping at those 10-15 houses.
To me this eliminates the yuckiness that can be associated with Halloween.

I think Halloween should be a teaching tool and used for that to explain the difference between good and evil. I do believe if you treat it like I did that you dress up as good---princesses and cowboys and such and keep it in perspective then Halloween is ok. We do a trunk or treat at our church with families getting together and dressing up as someone biblical. We use it as a teaching tool like that. Also each kid can tell the trunkers a bible verse and get an extra candy. It is treated more as a celebration for fall and the harvest. Also a lesson for kids to learn about the bounties of this time of year. We also bring in a ton of pumpkins representing the harvest. If taught and kept in perspective, I feel like it is ok. I also see keeping things from kids puts more emphasis on what you are trying to keep from them. I would rather use it as a lesson. My best friend use to keep candy from her kids. When they did get to have it they wanted to gorge themselves with it. One of her little girls would wake up out of a sound sleep if she heard a candy wrapper being opened. When she finally did let them have candy, it became not such a big deal and their interest in it became a whole lot less. I call it the apple syndrome. If adults couldn't resist, how do you expect kids? Just lose it as a teaching tool and why it is wrong to dress as demons and such. Love you guys! You're Texas neighbor in the hill country!

@j...bro. partially true. Xmas nor Easter was never renamed. The dates were move to comform with current calendar events of that time by various Catholic Pope's The Eastern Orthodox use a different calendar. From the Western Catholic Churches.
Funny how the Western Churches adopted the majority of Paul's writings from the Eastern Church in the KING JAMES AND REVISED KJ BIBLE 🤔
Paul started Haga Sophia in Mesopotamia before Peter started the church in Roman. According to folklore (oral traditions of the Christian church), the pagans adapted Christian Holidays for their benefit.

This isn't necessarily something that married couples with dual incomes consider. I just think Halloween is a tremendous waste of money. You go to multiple parties, maybe 3-4 over a Halloween weekend. Each one is themed differently so you're supposed to buy a new costume for each or tailor a costume and it's like $40 per. I know people in dire financial straits who own many halloween costumes, it's absurd.

Hi! I am being blessed by the podcasts I've watched so far! Praise the Lord!
Granger, I 100% agree with you about AA. AA was founded by a person who did a séance while on LSD which brought forth the BIG BOOK they use (it was spirit led, but NOT by God's Spirit). It has an occult background. My father was an alcoholic. Albeit he stopped drinking due to AA, he NEVER fixed the underlying issues....SIN. Although he raised us Catholic (won't go there on that non-Christian religion), AA made him drift from God and made God some higher power he could make up to suit his needs. One of the very steps is to turn your life over to God AS YOU UNDERSTAND HIM. What that means is, if you want God to be a doorknob....then he is a doorknob. It causes idolatry and teaches relative truth rather than objective truth....Jesus is the only Truth!
It sent my dad on years and years of "soul searching", spiritualism and caused him to create his very own god/religion. Fast forward to me (47 yrs old July 2021) crying out to Jesus and then saved. Praise Him for His mercy!! After that I spent months and months trying to get my dad to see the lies he was believing....he would argue with me that I was wrong and he knew better. After prayers to God to humble my prideful father, February 2023 my father was fatally hit by a car up the road from his house. He had a massive brain bleed and swelling. He was unresponsive for a week. After more begging and prayer that God would have him HEAR me, the Lord woke him up the day we were going to let him go. He was 100% cognitive and shook his head yes to every question I asked him. He didn't make it but was alive for two days. The Lord gifted him mercy. And I know the Holy Spirit worked to convict him. I don't know where my father's heart was 100%, but I trust my God is good and righteous.
With that said...I'm 100% convinced AA was the beginning of the end for my father...and I believe it's a detriment more than a help. As you said, Jesus is the ONLY one who can save us and fix us. AA only deals w/ the surface but not the underlying CAUSE of addiction which is undoubtedly SIN.
I look forward to more podcast! God bless you!!! - Jennifer

You nailed it as far as convictions, I allowed mine to dress up for Halloween and we did Santa and I personally see nothing wrong with either but that is me. I was brought up in a Christian home as we raised our child in a Christmas home.
We are for sure to be apart from the world but have to tread lightly when children are younger. It can come across that being a Christian takes out the fun.
I love what you all did last Halloween.
My child is grown and I help with Fall Festival at my church on Halloween night. We use it as a time to minister and meet people in our small southern town.

I think it can be used to glorify God. Churches put on trunk or treats and halloween events all the time and its all fun and innocent. The original Christmas tree was used in a pagan ceremony. as long as were not dumping blood on the Christmas tree and worshipping Satan I think a Christmas tree is innocent. its just a tree. Just like halloween is just a chance for your kids to dress up like their favorite character. As far as my family goes my kids will never dress like demons or killers. It will be a day for candy and imagination to be their favorite super hero and we'll celebrate at church events. this is all IMO obviously. Love y'all!

I've noticed that the Lord has called many people out of the man made traditions. It's been about 4ish years that my family has stopped christmas, halloween and easter as well. We celebrate God's Feasts as he commanded instead. It's actually been a blessing and much more peaceful and enjoying! So many have been decieved that God has just changed and it's okay for us since we are grafted in, to do what we want and to worship how we see fit! Too many people do things based on emotion and tradition when the Word tells us that our heart will deceive! I don't know any loving parent, who is going to have laws and rules for their children to abide by and then adopt another child-whom they also love.. and let them do whatever makes them happy! No, they are going to be expected to all abide by the parents rules! Unfortunately though, many don't want to see it. It is a lonely road but don't be shaken or discouraged! Jesus will walk it with you! Remember, many are called but few are chosen and the path is narrow! But stay on the path that leads to everlasting life!!
Also, in the new kingdom.. are we going to be partaking in christmas, easter, or halloween? Nope! But we will God's appointed Feasts!

Your heart is in the right place. But it's okay to celebrate/ remember both Feast & Lesser Feast under the New Covenant given by Christ. One I think it is okay that you are reading old questions not previously responded to from your Amber questions folder. When I grew up and I'm older than Granger to me halloween was just a night of dressing up in a costume to get free candy and yes when I was young I believed in Santa and the Easter Bunny but I also new from a young age that Christmas was Jesus' birthday and Easter was a celebration of his resurrection. To the man who wrote in about the struggles he and the wife had conceiving before being blessed I know of a couple she being about 20 years younger than her husband who is my age and they live off the taxpayers and they have 7 kids and expecting 2 more any day now. It makes me mad that they keep popping out kids and live off the government and when I was younger and wanted children I was only ever blessed with one. Back then I was mad that I couldn't have more, mad that the one I was blessed with came at a very bad time of my life. Now that I am older and my life is different I am glad my one and only was the only one cause more would have kept me connected to those I would not want in my life now but also I would not have connections I have now. Does it still anger me of this couple that keeps popping out kids yep but I also know there is nothing I can do about it so I just try to move on and soon I will really be moving and start building new friendships in the new neighborhood and church in the new state that will be home.

I disagree with what you told that young man about his Dad, & the reason I do is because what the WORD say's In Luke 16:26 In the NKJV That there is a great Gulf fixed so that those who want to pass from here to you cannot, nor can those from there pass to us.
Once a person has passed from this life they are sealed in what ever state they passed away in....
I understand the hurt & the wanting to have your parents saved, I have both of my parents that went to a dead Church, that they believed you were either picked for heaven or you weren't & there wasn't a thing you could do about it.
And That is NOT what the WORD of GOD Say's at all but that is what they died believing, so are they in Heaven? I honestly can't say that they are they never referred to God or Jesus by their names it was always the Man up stairs.
That speaks loud & clear to me that they were not saved, because No One that is saved would ever talk about God or Jesus using that term.
Now about Halloween, We have to look at this day or the group of days as Satan sees them, not as we see them. these days are set aside for Satan, they are HIS MOST HOLY OF HOLY DAYS, where he is Honored & there are Blood Sacrifices done on these days in his honor, look up how the Satanic world looks at Halloween & you'll never question again if you should allow your kids to take part in it.
When my kids were little and growing up we took them out to dinner & sometimes to a movie depending on if we could find one that was ok, or we'd take them to PUTT PUTT & to the DQ & I'd buy them candy to have at home, but I never let them take part in any thing that would give or that would bring Satan Glory.......

NOTE; That while we Can Pray for those whom are still here with us to accept Jesus and come to Salvation, we Cannot however pray for anyone whom has passed away to go to heaven. Salvation is a personal decision that can 9nly be made while alive here on earth!!! There is no place in the Scriptures where it says that we can pray for the dead in fact it says we are not to pray for the dead.
