hello in Italy on 10 5-speed engines are all broken in the first 20 hours. we have replaced them with the 4 gears even if less comfortable. I broke the engine in a race
BTW, did you check with Ohvale? My understanding is that they know about the issue and that an engine replacement might be possible... And only delivers 4 speed transmission on MY2021
that's your input shaft. Looks to be a flaw in the hardening/annealing process during the time of manufacturer (of the part, not necessarily Ohvale's fault). KTM had an identical issues with their second gen 690 SMC-R's It requires a complete engine teardown and case split to replace, so it's a bit involved though this being a fairly basic motor it's not that huge of a job.
I would say generally they last about 50 hours before they need a rebuild. Not sure what happened with mine. I spoke with Ohvale US and he said he has never seen an engine failure like mine.
What make is your slipper clutch and will it fit in a zongshine 190 there the same as the Daytona but a 2 valve instead of a 4 valve so what make slipper and is it a full auto or a semi auto thank😊
It is a full auto slipper and I am almost confident it will work for you. I unfortunately don’t know the make. If you email Brandon at www.risemoto.com he can definitely help you.
Yeah crazy weird freak accident I have the same thing with mine I don't have a ohvale but I do have daytona 190cc 4valve 16 hours in and was going to take the head off to Port it out I found my cylinder wall coating like spider cracked glass bad cylinder coating I ended up installing a Big Bore Kit 212cc definitely casting flaw and cylinder wall coating flaw never my life haven't seen anything like that when I took it apart it was running perfect tune with the AFR and everything I'm running a pwk type carburetor much better than the PE Style I'm curious what sprockets do you run that bike and top speed this one is a five speed right
Wild! The consistency in these engines is all over the place. We have run a wide range of sprockets depending on the track. Yes, bike is a five speed. The fastest I have gone is 91mph at Willow Springs raceway. It was geared to the heavens haha
@@MartinoDesign99 nice I got 82 with 18t and 34rear when I re watched it I seen 85 on the GPS I can only get my motor to 9650 RPM but that's information coming from the hour meter and I'm not sure if that's a hundred percent accurate I have an on overlap Cam and that's about when it dies off according to Daytona I can get to 11000rpm but that's just what they showed in a graph with the non overlap cam
So is the shift star washer mod worth the trouble? Does it help with missed shifts or do I just have to make sure I make deliberate lever pulls/pushes to ensure positive engagement? Anyone know what the torque value is for bolt holding the shift star?
It’s a toss up. Some people it works some it doesn’t. I know making your shift more precise only lasts so long. Once you start pushing hard everything goes out the window. I unfortunately don’t know the torque value.
I no you think it was because it need the shift star mod and the arm moving that caused it to brake. It could of contributed to it but from some research I found that the reason why the input shaft snaps is because of the kick back when you kick start the motor it's happened to more then a couple of people they say it's better to bump start it or electric start it . I would be careful with the new motor when starting it. The input shaft is part of the trans gears. There talk about getting the shaft hardened for a fix but I can't find any one that can confirm that it works for a permanent fix. They do sell the shaft and gear but its prone to happen again if kick started wrong. There's videos on how it should be kicked over. Hope this is helpful to you And I'm still interested in buying the old engine off you if you are still want to sell it. I left my email you can message me anytime and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Thanks for your time and reply 👍👌✌️💯
I actually never assumed the input shaft braking was related. I just thought it was very inconvenient haha also weird that it happened at the same time. I replied to your previous message and would be happy to sell you the old motor.
@@LarsTore i don't but I'll look in my history and I'll give you the title of the video as soon as I find it. I know they said you have to push down lightly and it will click then push down all the way. 👍✌️
The video on why It brakes is a different video then how to kick start it and in the video on why said they don't recommend you kick start it at all But if I remember right the other video that shows how to kick it over said it would be fine if you did it that way but most people just keep kicking it till it starts. That's probably why they make the electric start fyi give my a couple of hours and I'll try and post both name of the videos there on youtube

They were all braking here in US as well mine lasted longer than I expected.
Crazy that the input shaft of the transmission sheared off like that. The name of the nut you're thinking of is called a castle nut.
Thank you so much. Noted. Didn’t know it was the “input” shaft either.
@@MartinoDesign99 Yup the input shaft gets power from the crank, through the clutch. The output shaft ends with the front sprocket.
it's a spanner nut. castle nut has more slots for a cotter pin.
BTW, did you check with Ohvale? My understanding is that they know about the issue and that an engine replacement might be possible... And only delivers 4 speed transmission on MY2021
Apparently my issue is unrelated to the 5 speed shifting issue. Not sure it would be a “warranty” replacement.
Martino Design did you still ask them?

Thank you. I have since learned that it is my input shaft. It’s wild that the motor made it until 20hrs before failing.
What a bummer ! How much did the new engine cost you ?
The new engines retail for around $1600
@@MartinoDesign99 ohvale didn’t cover it under warranty?
Question: Is there a reason the engine only lasts 24 or so hours before either a total rebuild or replacement is necessary?

What’s that small hole next to that bar code at bottom mines has that hole also seems like every Daytona has that
Do you mean the QR code in the engine? I believe it’s an oil galley.

Hi
Did you fit the EVR clutch and how do you find it.?
would be good to find out why it failed .
You can order the slipper clutch from www.risemoto.com
No idea why the shaft broke.
wow! Will you install the "washer" on the new engine or run it as is?
The new engine already has the washer installed.
