I think the reason the Internet was so innocent back then is because everyone who was making this kind of stuff was growing up with the Internet for the first time and we're still roughly 14 during the time or something like that but as people grew up we got less silly and because the Internet in this way is more widespread and open to anyone and more generations are growing up with this the Internet will never be as pure or innocent again because it's a mixed bag now.

ah the days when the internet was young and innocent, where yes there was porn but things were different, simpler, less hate-filled. an internet were people found joy in stupid songs about llamas and randomness.
