Go straight to a 4x2x2 build a divider to split the enclosure in half for smaller dragons and when it gets big enough remove the divider. That will save you about 250.00 on a 36x18x18 starter kit that you won't use that long. Don't waste money on crickets either; I only Dubia roaches, superworms, and mealworms, also if you're in a position to breed your own bearded dragon food that will save $$$.
Former pet store employee here, I adopted a beardie while i was still working there, thought i knew how to take care of one from what i learned at the store. brought it home, hopped on youtube, did more research, and oh boy was i frustrated with chain pet stores in general. Couldnt handle working for one after i realized how poorly some of the animals are raised while at the store due to improperly trained staff and very poor feeding/habitat standards. I love my dragon and got one of these kits and at 3 months old, i can see how fast he's going to outgrow the starter kit. Thank you for this content, channels like yours are helping this new reptile parent a lot.
I work at a pet store and we sell these kits, they are pricey but as someone that got that kit with a beardie it can work and at least at my store we try to be accurate with our information. It’s a decent kit for a few months and then you can upgrade to a 40 gallon breeder tank for a while just need the tank and screen for a 40 and if you wanna upgrade this part (highly recommended) get a UVB tube instead of a dome light because eventually u will wanna get a 75 for full grown adults. We always have 50% or $1 per gallon tanks every other month or so. Orrr you could get a big tank to start out with and get everything separately which is fine but it does add up a lot more but in the long run it’s a little cheaper. Personally I used the 20 gallon that came with the kit for a month or two and said Fck it I’m gonna get a 40. Baby beardies can thrive in a 40 just try to make the insects and such at close range and help him out if needed. I always also recommend getting live mealworms and crickets as the pellets are more of a topper than just their food, other wise the calcium powder is good, no D3 and low phosphate levels… it’s a hit or miss with these kits 🤷🏻♂️
Those kits are terrible. I buy my supplies in bulk, so all I usually need to do is buy the enclosure when I get a new animal. Those terrariums by zoomed are too small too.
This is something that is definitely not talked about enough. I bought a 36x18x18 "kit" on sale for $175 just for the front opening glass terrarium. Everything else got tossed except the dome lamps. Dood will eventually be going into a 48x24x36" and I'm going to scoop some Chinese Cave Geckos from you for the 36x18x18.
can you do a video on "common mistakes with breeding roaches" or something? when i was getting into the hobby i was having hell trying to breed dubias and it frustrated me
Uhhh one if them has a nice hide as well... but yeah... I spent much more for my 4x2x2, lighting and everything thank $500... might've been about a grand.
The pet supply industry is HUGE right now, and largely unregulated. They wanna make as much money as possible with as little product/cost, and prey on kids to sucker their parents into buying a "cheap" animal they have on display and then upselling them with bundles like this to maximize profit without sacrificing much inventory space either. Tbh I don't trust big chain pet stores with anything. Animals are hurt, suffer terribly, and even die from the things they try to sell you as safe or recommended. (Not just reptiles either, small mammals like hamsters, rabbits, ferrets will suffer a lot from this scheme as well). If people did this with taking care of human children, society would flip their collective shit and shut it down immediately, it's hard to convince people that the quality of life of a small pet matters :/
I miss my Bearded Dragon he passed away couple months ago. He was 9 years old is that old age for them? He passed in his sleep seemed perfectly fine the day before and the whole 9 years I had him can’t explain what happened.
@@Anthony-fo8no Yea I just read the average age for Bearded Dragons is between 8 to 15 years. It’s pretty rare for one to make it passed 12 years old it said. It also said it depends on genetics too will determine how long your Bearded Dragon will live for you can take the most excellent care for one and they can still pass away at 8 years old. Before mine fell asleep that night it stared at me for a good 2 to 3 minutes I don’t know if that was him trying to say goodbye like he knew he wasn’t going to make it through the night.
99% of the time kits are absolutely terrible can always use like one thing with them beardies are expensive need big cages and babies eat A TON in a day and bugs aren’t cheap

very helpful. nobody does videos on why you shouldn't use that crap for beardies so this was very nice
Have you checked out the viv tech uvb bulbs I'm really impressed and having a warranty does it for me.
I have several viv tech bulbs and I know the owners of the company personally. They have great bulbs.
Holy cow they are a lot more expensive than i thought!
They do be pricey
Where can I see the ball pythons that you have for sale?
Most important thing I learned was that sand as a substrate is like putting your Beardie in space. Lol
Like being in the beach forever 😂

for the double dome, most likely it's for the night and basking heat lamp. if you put ubv lights on the other dome, your crazy
I absolutely agree that bearded dragons are NOT beginner pets for most people.
What size enclosure will you recommend for a purebred frilled dragon
75 to 100 gallons
Will u ever do any snake again even on a small scale
Probably not. Just dont have a huge interest for them.
You mean for the regular one but the pigmy one’s are perfect for this Enclosure
I love these titles/rants😅

most likely man most live up to ten, nothing to to do with your husbandry.
