FGA Team conducting training sessions on cultivation of mushrooms for 50 women in Nimruz.

On December 9th and 10th, 2023, FGA conducted a training session for 50 women beneficiaries in Kang district, Nimroz province, Afghanistan. The training covered the cultivation of mushrooms in a step-by-step manner. Participants were first provided with general knowledge about mushrooms and their potential health benefits. Afterwards, field staff delivered a comprehensive training on how to plant and construct a mushroom farm using conventional methods. During the training, all participants were shown how to properly set up a suitable room for farming, how to use the necessary tools and equipment, how to prepare and procure basic materials, how to plant sprout correctly, how to adjust the room temperature and lighting, how to water consistently and regularly, how to protect and grow the cultivated sprout, and other crucial information from start to end. The beneficiaries were able to learn how to plant sprout at home in full detail and in an accurate and standard manner. In the end, all beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the project implementer in Nimroz province for creating such an opportunity, and for the knowledge and experience gained from the project. As a result, beneficiaries are able to plant mushrooms in their homes properly and quickly, and they can consume it for nutrition and as a healthy diet, or they can sell it at markets and supermarkets and utilize the money earned to support their families.
