14th International conference: Panel session 1 "Protecting people: the future of climate insurance"

Panel debate on "Protecting people: the future of climate insurance" at Insurance Europe's 14th International Conference on 30 May 2024 in Helsnki, Finland.
The panel comprised of:
- Hanna Aho, Climate Policy Officer, Finnish Association for Nature Conservation
- Hans De Cuyper, CEO, Ageas Group
- Mirka Vahtera, Strategic Accounts, EMEA Lead, ICEYE, Finland
- Lori Wing-Heier, Director of the Alaska Division of Insurance and Co-Chair of the Climate and Resilience Task Force, NAIC
The debate was moderated by Nicolas Jeanmart, head of personal and general insurance, at Insurance Europe.
Session 1 examined the effects climate change is having on people and the industry. It discussed how best to limit climate change, manage associated risks and support adaptation efforts. Furthermore, it reflected on measures to be considered for the insurance industry to be able to continue to offer people the protection they need.
