Hey everyone! I'm super excited to share my journey growing tamarillos, also known as tree tomatoes. I'm not a gardening pro, but these vibrant fruits caught my eye at the supermarket, and I couldn't resist growing them. It was like magic watching tiny seeds turn into lush green plants with lots of sunshine, water, and just the right fertilizer. After about two years, my tree bore these amazing orange fruits, and picking the first one felt like finding a hidden treasure. The taste was incredible-sweet, tangy, and exotic. So, I decided to make a homemade tamarillo salsa, bursting with flavor and perfect for dipping chips or spicing up tacos. Then, I took on the challenge of a decadent tamarillo almond cake, and the result was a dreamy mix of moist crumb and subtle sweetness. If you're curious about this unique fruit, give it a shot. Growing tamarillo trees is surprisingly easy and incredibly rewarding. Wow that is a pretty tree! I am also in Northern California just outside SF and want to plant the seeds from a fruit I have. What type of soil and fertilizer did you use? How did you keep them from the cold During The autumn and winter?
Cool. I wrote a post on my website all about Tamarillo and how to grow and also some recipes. Links on my bio or just go to MarzisGarden.com and search Tamarillo and you’ll find the posts. Thanks
