  • Unboxing and First Start of our Parsun 2.6hp outboard.
Meet our new family boat member. Exciting moment for us when we got to unbox our first outboard engine for our Tender aka Freda. No more rowing for us.
Glen talks Ber through the process of filling the outboard with oil & petrol and starting it for the First Time. Also the moment she picked her name.
    Thanks for watching
    Ber & Glen
We were asked by someone to put a link to the engine, so below is a link to the engine and the shop we bought it here in Ireland.

Safe journeys with the new engine. Saves a lot of rowing. Make sure you get spare spark plug & correct size socket. Our engine failure in Glengarrif was the spark plug which John changed after a LONG row out (with fuel & groceries) to where we were moored.

Good call! Must pick one up! We always tend to carry a few bits like that.

Hi Audrey, ya we hope it will bring us to many new places with this little motor and it open up new anchorages and ports for us. Looking forward to seeing where it will take us.

I have the air cooled 4 cycle cliency/Hangkai. Quiet too. I wouldn't leave gas in it for longer than a week.

Not had an issue (yet) with the fuel. It's been very good.

Hi, fair wind if your stiil on the sea...
How did the engine go on the run ? I bet very few gas consumption. But in general...starting, oil, oxydation, material...thx.

Still on the water and running well. 1 maybe 2 fills of fuel a year... So ya economic. No issue with corrosion. We do take off and run fresh water at the start and end of the season.
But ya we must put together a follow up video now a few years on. 😜

How much width is required to be able to clamp this?

Their a nice little unit... We'll be doing a bit of a review on how we get a few spins out of it. It was very handy for loading up the boat as we set of on holidays today. West Cork here we come...

The kill cord should be around your wrist for safety . If you fall out the engine stops

Ya true, we're well aware of that... I used to be a powerboat instructor. Just running it in the garden it wasn't necessary at the time! Haha
