Hermosa versión ❣️ Hace muchos años que tengo fascinación por esta obra y escuché muchísimas versiones y esta es sorprendente y muy bella. Tiene cosas innovadoras y embellecedores.
this symphony is nicknamed "Thor's Hammer "because of the hammer and anvil effect of the orchestra in the last movement.I find it deeply exciting and profoundly moving. it's my second favorite symphony behind his symphony no.2
Berglund's always hailed as this Sibelius expert. But the recap - the most powerful moment in all of Sibelius - just makes me think I'm shopping at K mart. what is with all the random (not scored and musically terrible) dimunendos in the brass right there? Come on! Ugh.
The big carthesis near the end of what was the original first movement, wasn’t truly tension-releasing here. The ending of the 1919 first movement should go like a runaway train. Sibelius marked the score so. The orchestra should be breathless by its final bar. Not really so here. Quite conservative a rendering.

this whole symphony is just a masterpiece. no words
Wow. That 3rd movement!
One of the supreme symphonic masterpieces. In a piquant, authoritative performance. Thanks!

I love this symphony and all, but like, what the hell is that ending.
This is not the only Sibelius' Symphony with an arguable ending, by the way...

I'm pretty sure that your exact sentence is what Sibelius was going for when he wrote it :)
This is one of my favorite symphony endings ever.

Great symphony, lousy recording. What's up with that??
Karajan's makes more sense. This one seems off.
