We recently purchased the Electrolux front load washer/dryer pair because of the good reliability of the Electrolux brand, the washer didn't have features we weren't going to use, and both the washer and dryer on the 16" pedestals fit below our cabinetry, the GE Profile pair would not fit under our cabinets which are 54" from the floor. The pricing was also very competitive with the other brands we considered (LG, GE and Whirlpool). Another reason we purchased the Elecrolux was the design of the door gasket. While GE claims they solved the gasket mold problem with microban additive to the rubber and a vent system in the door, I read many reviews from owner of the GE Profile washers that still had problems with mold build up on the gasket. Since it seems the need to replace the door boot gasket is inevitable, I investigated how easy it was to replace the gasket on each of the brands of washers we were looking at. Electrolux was by far the easiest washer to replace the gasket, while the GE was at least twice as complicated. We got about 15 years out of our previous LG appliances, hope we do as well with the Electrolux units.
We had a 27-inch front load Miele washer & dryer set that we bought 15 years ago when we had our house renovated. We'd always had a free-standing machines and top load washers before, but our current laundry room was designed with a countertop over the front load washer/dryer with the washer right next to the sink water lines and drain, all well thought out. After 15 years our Miele machines are due to be replaced (the washer failed completely) and to my surprise I discovered that Miele no longer makes 27-inch washer/dryers plus Miele, and our installation, has the washer on the right and dryer on the left, the opposite of most other manufacturers (I had no idea). This setup means that for us the choice was GE or Electrolux as we need to be able to reverse the doors on both the washer and dryer to fit our installation. The larger size of the GE means that it doesn't quite fit in the space that was designed for our 27-inch Miele machines so Electrolux it is. Often it's something quite unrelated to the actual performance of the machine that makes the decision for you. I had no idea we'd be this restricted in our choices unless we want to totally renovate our laundry room again. Hopefully we'll get good long-term service from our new Electrolux machines.
Electrolux also has the anti microbial gasket. You need to update you video. Does GE reservoir get gunked up from storing all that detergent in it for months? I notice even the single-use dispenser gets accumulation over time. I just love the pods because they are simple to use and very efficient.
@@YaleAppliance1 my dream is an LG or GE 6 cubic foot front load that will wash and dry All In one. I think there's a couple of Manufacturers that make small ones right? Nothing big like that?
@@ArcolaBridge I heard GE is coming out with a 4.8 cu ft. washer dryer all in one. The problem with the combo units is that they take forever to wash and dry (even up to 8 hours) @Yale Appliance , do you know how long the new GE combo coming out in June 2023 takes to wash and dry? Do you have any other info on that machine?

I bought the GE 650 washer last fall. I am so impressed with the microban feature! Thanks for all of your great videos!
Glad you like them!

Havent heard that....
Electrolux doesn't seem to have an access to water filter. If so it can be a big problem when it's clogged.
GE 650 and 850 gas dryers don't sell in Canada.... does Yale ship to Canada? or know of a way I can get it?
We don't ship to Canada, or outside of the MA, RI, southern NH area.
Which one of these too washers better removing stains?
Good question...we will be doing stain testing in future videos
So the GE washes and dries in one machine?
if you want to wait for 8 hours
Sort of... with a very light load (couple items) its able to wash and do an 8 hour fan dry. Truly an overnight cycle due to the dry time.
