By using internet resources and with the help of Lavtian friends, I tried to translate for you this beautiful Latvian folk song "Es atnācu uguntiņu" (I brought the fire). Please keep in mind that sometimes it might be very difficult to translate folk songs (especially as a non-native!) where the meaning might be symbolic and sometimes even debatable. My main aim is to share with you the depth and beauty that I have encountered when diving into Latvian folksongs, their melodies and by learning Kokle, the Latvian ethnographic zitter. To me, these specific folk songs or "spēka dziesmas" awake in me a feeling of life as a passionate and epic experience. I hope you enjoy it! Izbaudiet :)

As well as to hand someone else a slice (=I had even enough to share)

My name is Xenia, I am from Germany and I have lived in Latvia (to be precise in Riga and Jelgava) for 1,5 years in 2019-2020 to do voluntary work in the education field. Before I came to Latvia, I almost did not know anything about this mysterious country. Some months later, I ended up learning the Latvian language, singing in a choir, falling in love with the nature and eventually also staring to learn the national folk instrument "Kokle" more or less by my own.

It looks like you mute the strings not needed to play the chosen tune, then you strum both open and muted strings.
Instrument sounds pretty full. I guess you might have put some reverb on it, but still.
This is the original sound. I play in a pretty big empty room with high ceilings :)
@@xeniatwarz525 Oh, then it seems I've underestimated your little friend. I remember learning about the kantele, Finnish version of this type of instrument. I was surprised how good yours was for vocal accompaniment.
