God I miss the 90’s in Atlanta…. freaknik, cruisin up and down Peachtree on Friday nights, Buckhead on Saturday night at World Bar, cruisin around Stone Mountain Park on Sundays… Take me back!!!!
this was the best era of rap because you had so many artists with distinct styles popping at the same time... fun party music, conscious underground stuff, gangsta rap... everyone had something to listen to
I was extraaaa young when this came out. Maybe like 10 lol but this music was always playing around me. I can't help but to feel all nostalgic. R.I.P. To the old Atlanta, you are truly missed 😔
Rich Tonez Transplants are people that came from somewhere else to another place. It's a word used to describe people that aren't from a particular city or state. I.e. It's a bunch of people that weren't born and raised in Atlanta but the now live there like they're from there.
+MF Grant Im a 90s feen and one of the reasons for that is because artists had VARIETY back then! Ain't nothing wrong with talkin about sex, jewelry, and the streets but its HOW AND HOW FREQUENTLY an artist discusses those topics! 90s artists knew how to discuss OTHER TOPICS unlike these new skool clowns!! A solid 90s hip hop album gave you a COMPLETE MEAL! A solid artist back then gave you party tracks, gangsta tracks, soulful tracks, social commentary tracks, etc These new artists for the most part lack that SUBSTANCE!!! And even sadder is seeing some of the OGs DUMB DOWN and LOSE that substance they once had in the 90s! I understand that artists gotta keep working and gotta eat, but damn it sucks!!
It is fun music. That’s all that matters. I remember this song playing at one of my middle school dances. Back in the days lol. All the kids went crazy
OH, SO THIS IS WHO SINGS THIS SONG! I've been looking for this for a minute now. I finally decided to Google it and here I am. This used to be my jam. 20+ years later and it's still all good.
I remember in 1995 of the summer we came home to Georgia for a little while from Japan (my dad was Air Force at the time). It was great hanging with my cousins and hearing people play songs like this. I was 13 in 1995, songs like this made me want to live in Atlanta.
I just moved to Atlanta in the end of 95 from San Francisco .. right before the Olympics. My mamma wouldn’t let out out during freaknik. I remember the Bankhead bounce , the ragtop and ticking.. my childhood was dope
Damn i miss my old Atlanta. Back when we was Atlien in this bitch. Rag top shawty. We all ways had our on style and didn't care if you didn't like it, Rip to the old Atlanta Ga, yall can have this new shit.
Man I been trying to find an album, it had this song in it, thuggish ruggish bone, tootsie roll, whoomp there it is.... the disc was purple with a big black V on it... it was a 2 disc mix... if anyone knows what I'm talking about please let me know
