    While you have the fan down replacing the very cheap capacitor might be worthwhile. For newbies taking pictures as you go might help reassembly. Very worthwhile video.

    Great job on fixing the fan bearing. In America it is so much easier, you toss the old fan in the garbage, go to Home Depot, or Lowes, or any other Home improvement or hardware retail store and buy new fan as low as $30, replace it in 5 to 10 minutes, max. Ceiling fans in America are very light weight, wings are made out of light weight wood, due to safety.
    I have lived in an Asian country and I know in Asian countries, sometimes you have to fix your fans the old fashion way and it can be a headache, there are so many parts, and all fans are different in those countries, some have wires placed one way, other have it completely different, no standardized parts or stores to go to. In America, Europe, due to standard parts and wiring for all the major appliances, you can repair them easily. And in every hardware stores, they are organized very properly, it is very simple to replace anything appliance in America.

      An afford to reduce waste. The overall procedure could look tedious. New fan would be the last resort.

    Great video, Can we used sleeve bearing instead of ball bearing ? Which one is effective ?

    • @CTBLiew
      @CTBLiew  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! I still think the ball bearing is the best. It required rotational motion rather than translational for sleeve bearing. Ball bearing has less contact surface compared with sleeve bearing.

      Same brand the bearing can be easily removed without the tool showed. Use hair dryer to heat up the back panel if the bearing is stuck. Heat helps expand the metal slightly.

      It is cause by loose screw or nut? Else try spray white lithium liquid grease into the rim. You may also apply mechanical grease around the rotor coil. Easiest will be to spray oil into those hole around where the capacitor located.

    Did you replace the gasket? If yes, where did you purchase the gasket from?
    What type of mechanical grease do you use? Where to buy?

    • @CTBLiew
      @CTBLiew  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I replaced the two bearing.
      Those are the common mechanical grease i purchased from ordinary hardware shop.
      But it seems mechanical oil cater for sewing machine work best with bearing.
      You might want to give it a try. The reason was those mechanical grease would plasticized at high temperature that will damage the bearing.
      I was thinking if high temperature mechanical grease will be the best option.
      Either option oiling is a routine task for ceiling fan. Oil base lubricant should be more feasible when it comes to maintenance.
      I didn't replace the gasket. I intend to but since the ceiling fan works quietly after the new bearing installed. As long as the problem solved, the gasket should be working just fine.

    A male fastener is a "bolt" (or 'screw'), and the female piece is called the "nut".
    It's the "cotter or split" (not 'safety') pin that goes in/out of the hole in the shank of the "bolt" (or male screw and not the 'nut').
    Normally it's called a (2/3 jaw) mechanical gear puller.
    Note: bolt and nut are normally paired.
