    Looking at tha nice old point-to-point wiring and early mechanisms is so entertaining to me. I Learned electronics in the 60s, when tubes were the active elements of circuits. I can still remember the smell of the wood and glue after the tubes heated it up. Modern fiberglass boards and circuit chips are just not romantic.

      We are on that same page with you! Thanks for commenting and if you get a chance, check out some of our other 900 plus videos! We will soon have 1000 videos which have been made over the years here in Sanford. We used to make video VHS tapes and mail them out one at a time. TH-cam is a blessing to so many!

    It's ultra-obsolete technology from 60 years ago but .... these Hammond organs sounded amazing. They were fantastic and if I could have one, I would.

      Define obsolete. Yes, they are no longer manufactured but in terms of the sound they produced it seems there has never been a replacement for the sound they generated.

    Haven’t oiled mine since the 90’s

  • @KeyboardExchange

    We suggest adding 30 to 50 drops of oil to an organ each year depending on the amount of use that organ will receive. We have seen as much damage done from over oiling as we have from under oiling, therefore we suggest measuring added oil by drops and maintain a regular annual schedule. Adding too much oil will contaminate the scanner which will ruin the vibrato effect making it very choppy. The fix for this is expensive and requires the scanner to be rebuilt......to remove excess oil.

    • @DandyDon1
      @DandyDon1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not the oil which causes the problems in a Vibrato Scanner. Oil an insulator not a conductor. it's the zinc hair growth from the plating used through out the metal parts in the Hammond organ.

    1:41 hi. Thanks for a very informative video. Just one quick question which wasn’t clear to me. Other than the thoughts, there are three oil ports. One on the left and two on the right. Do both ports on the right require 10-15 drops of oil annually or only (either) one?

    can you use sewing machine oil on a Hammond B 3 and a Leslie 122.. Thanks James

    • @MusicFan0136
      @MusicFan0136 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sewing oil is thicker, but fairly pure. I’ve used it on the shaft near the sync motor. I’d never use it with the twg. Too many small parts to gum up. I don’t want to void the warranty! Lol

      @@KeyboardExchange Hey Jim, this is sg. I've been thinking about lately:
      What is the actual difference between the regular off-the-shelf, acid free, carbon hydride based mechanics oil you can get in any convenience store and the Hammond labeled oil I have to wait 3 weeks to arrive from the other part of the world and costs 4X the price?
      Is there any source of information provided other than a plastic can with a Hammond sticker on it?
      Why do i have this feeling, that both products are made in the same chinese factory, where one of the bottles labeled "Hammond", the other one labeled "whatever"? Is it actually manufactured in the US or it is a re-labeled chinese product (as they re-label Windex for PC and laptop screen cleaners)?

    Hi
    Did they ever use Asbest in anny Hammond modell ?
    We just bought an organ from 1972
    Thanks for an answer

    • @KeyboardExchange
      @KeyboardExchange  ปีที่แล้ว

      We prefer the organs from the 1950's, 60's and only the 1970's if it is a B3 model which were made from 1955 to 1974. What model do you have and where are you located? If your organ has a tape recorder built in, it will not give you what you need in my opinion. Perhaps you can send me a picture so I can address your main question. Send to: B3buyer@aol.com and repeat your question in your email. I will try to help you sort it out....

    hi - my t582c has a volume pedal issue - need a 015-031748 bulb 6.3 V 0.25 amp - can you tell me , where to get one, or would any bulb with the same technical specifications do ? p.s. i'm in luxembourg

    • @KeyboardExchange
      @KeyboardExchange  ปีที่แล้ว

      Since you have the technical specs on the bulb, try to find one in your part of the world. That bulb replacement may well solve your problems. Hammond organ company did not make the bulb so a bulb supply house should be able to help you. Good luck! When you order the bulb, buy a few extras for future use. They do go bad from time to time.

    I have a guy living near me giving away a Hammond Aurora model. I’m debating about taking it because it doesn’t work and I have no idea what it would cost to fix.. I’m not sure if it’s worth the trouble. any advice?

    • @KeyboardExchange
      @KeyboardExchange  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you are interested in learning how to play, and you do not have an organ, give it a try. Sometimes the fix can be very easy such as making sure the organ is getting power and all the connections inside are actually connected. Learn how to do the basics yourself and clean the connections when the organ is NOT plugged in. Is the organ getting power? Does anything light up when you turn it on? Do you realize that certain tabs need to be put to the ON position to get any sound at all from the organ? These are all basic things. It is not a valuable model even when working correctly but the experience you might get fixing it, along with the satisfaction and the education should be worth the trouble. FREE seems like a good deal if only for the chance to learn and gain experience. This model does NOT require oil. Get input and information online. Ask a friend for help. Make it a project and if it does not work out, try again with another project. Do not get the organ with the thought to flip it and make a profit. This model is not in demand but as a musical instrument it is a good starting point and if nothing else, fix it, and pass it on to someone who really wants to learn. Doing THAT for someone who may never have the opportunity other than what you do for them is.... Priceless! Good luck!

    • @westrokker
      @westrokker 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KeyboardExchange thanks so much for the response! I thought it was a flip opportunity based on the fact it was a Hammond. Based on your comment, maybe not so much. I love fixing things and hoping maybe it was something simple to fix so therefore an opportunity to make some cash. I’m going to keep my eye open for a more desirable model. Seems there’s a lot of hammonds out there for sale on Facebook marketplace. I’ve actually done quite a few guitar restorations but liked them so much I kept them! Thanks again !

    • @KeyboardExchange
      @KeyboardExchange  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@westrokker If you want to look for things to flip, please know that we might be a willing buyer for certain items. We are always interested in certain model Leslie speakers like the 122, 142, 147 and 145. Sometimes these will be connected to an organ that no one really wants so purchase both and sell us the Leslie. Donate or try to sell the organ elsewhere but the prfit for you will be made selling us a good Leslie and the organ might be considered free and a potential bonus or worth more for the parts then selling the intact unit.
      Where are you located by city and state? Cost of shipping is always an issue.

    Do you guys sell parts

    • @KeyboardExchange
      @KeyboardExchange  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sadly we do not sell parts but we do buy parts to complete our restoration projects. We learned that selling parts was not our lane and it took too much time and focus away from our main objectives. There are other companies that sell parts and we often will refer business to them as well as buy parts from them. Our goal is to have all the parts we will need for years in advance and to be able to support the instruments we sell under our long term renewable annual warranty program. Our warranty program is perhaps one of the main reasons that people choose to do business with us at Keyboard Exchange International. You can send me an email if you can't find a needed part and perhaps I can let you know where to look. Email address on our website which is www.keyboardexchange.com

    Mentioning Hammond's lack of fuses might be important too. As well saying RT-2 , and RT-3...
    BTW, if a bottle of Hammond oil lasts 8 years instead of 3, YET those cups are staying 1/2--3/4 full it makes no difference so long as the organ is functioning properly. I have had various Hammond consoles take more & some take less...much less. A gig organ, or daily player will take a lot more than the average church which gets less play. These days so many of you Hammond service guys depend on church service work, of course there are the exceptions.
