  • For the uninitiated - silver in Spanish is "plata." Silver plated in Spanish is "plateado." And "Sterling 0925 Oro 18K Garantizado" is "Sterling 925 Gold 18k guaranteed" which is a complete joke and is completely unethical of whatever this company is, to put this sticker out on this product.
Nothing on this sticker indicates it's plated or made from base metals. You would normally find a marking like that on gold plated sterling silver jewelry. It caused me to gamble on this box for higher than I would have otherwise. Oh well, that's just part of the game I play. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose, sometimes I win big, but I try not to ever lose big. But hopefully I can help you guys navigate silver plate from the real deal.
I might decide in the future to scrap all these Mexican or Argentinian pieces, whatever country they made these pieces from, and see just how much gold or silver I can recover from them. That would be fun.
I also found some decent plate and a few oz of the real stuff to help me recoup some of my losses.
UPDATE- As of May 2024, I have been able to sell the Reed and Barton pierced tray for $30 and the matching Eales tray and cake stand for $64, which recouped most of my investment in the box, when including the sterling silver I found in the box.
All of the 10 unmarked serving pieces along with the 0925 oro 18k pieces have been sold for $58, leading to a slight profit on this box.
