  • So Henry and I set out post Christmas to see how much of a nightmare this truck is on route after the busiest cardboard recycle day of the year. This driver did not disappoint, he just came up to piles and opened up the side door to load it up. What a great treat!
    The packer wont work with the door open, but I tried to get enough video showing the mechanical operation of this fairly complex packer mechanism.
    For the Henry Spotters he sneaks in at 9:20, 13:23

      +Jeffrey Yatkowski That is why we must enjoy them as much as we can since they are going away, and quickly.

      +shadofax96 what do they do about spares

    • @shadofax96
      @shadofax96  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nate garbage trucks and lawn care I think these are the spares. If these trucks go out there is a possibility the Dempsters are used.

    Thank you for sharing buddy, I've always wondered how these split recycle carts works when dumping and not getting mixed.

      +Jason Leonard The packing mechanism is pretty elaborate, but also quite clever. I wished I could have gotten a video of the packer in motion, but nothing operates with the latch open, so that wasn't possible.

    Great video! Very interesting hopper. I hope you can get a better of the hopper . I would have atleast pull the carts to the truck . Great video again bill!

    Great to see another one of these trucks.Smart of the driver to open up the door instead of wrestling with the arm to get it all in the hopper. Any idea how many of these split Heils they have and what they plan to replace them with in the future? Seems like these trucks would work a lot better as a low entry since he gets out quite a bit. Awesome to see the packer and insides of this truck. That was super neat. Sad to see this area has a bad scavenging problem, seems like almost all the carts had their lids open. I miss the NorCal colors and name, something about the name and colors of Recology just doesn't sit right with me. Really missing the old name and colors now that they are back in SoCal.
    On a side note, do you know of any Recology division up north that might have had Crane Carrier split Heils like this? I remember I had pictures from the Internet as a kid of a truck in similar colors but on a CCC chassis and it had a tag. I'll have to try and find it for comparison.
    Nice video!

    • @valerieabend2942

      At least the scavengers aren't like here where they come up to your door unless you have a no soliciting...

    • @shadofax96
      @shadofax96  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +WMmaster626 It did make sense to me right away when I first saw this truck my they opted for the WXLL instead of the normal Xpeditor. The driver has to hop out of the truck almost every other house. I did prefer the driver opening the door rather than trying to get the arm to heave a pile up into the hopper. Especially during the post Christmas disaster.
      My issue with the scavengers is that they don't close the lid nor pull the carts out for the recycle guy. Nothing is free in this world, so I think they should be respectful and help out as their contribution for taking the recycling material. This driver has enough problems, he doesn't need to worry about making a mess because the bums left the lid open out of negligence. That's bad JuJu man...

    Great video! So nice to see more of this truck. The packer system does look pretty complex, but kind of cool looking at the same time. That's nice that the residents flattened and bundled their boxes. Sure must save him some time. I'm pretty sure these guys must get a lot of overtime though because they have to get out of the truck frequently. Does Recology have more units like this one? Any idea what came to collect the Christmas trees?

      @shadofax96  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheNVTrashMan I know very little about this yard. I do know these are currently slated for retirement and are being replaced. So if you want to see one, you better get movin'.

      +Craig Nicholson Eventually they are going to replace this with a CNG, ACX / Labrie Expert Split Body, Drop Frame, with the split hopper.

    where do they get the split carts? does toter make the divider or another compamy?

    • @shadofax96
      @shadofax96  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would suspect that's the case. But I have every reason to think Toter makes the divider too. I'll look into that *pun* next time I'm watching this truck in action...

    What's the accuracy rate of these things? how much stuff falls in the wrong side?

    • @shadofax96
      @shadofax96  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +matt trains While I do not know the exact answer, from what I saw when he opened the body, and what I've seen of them on route, they work pretty well with very little cross contamination. I will say that if there is any contamination, it it very little and much easier to sort thats a commingled recycle route.

      Bums and transients who wander through the neighborhood picking through the carts looking for bottles and cans. Often leaving a mess behind them as they go
