This is why I tell my English students that learning English is important and will lead to many opportunities and open doors for them in this rapidly globalizing world.
I hope that you tell them that their end goal should be to be good enough at English that, if they were drafted into war and killed an American soldier and took his dogtag, that they would be good enough to steal his identity to travel to America.
I feel pretty confident in saying the Whitest Kids You Know is the American Monty Python. Their premises are insane and often times the joke goes on way longer than you thought it would, because they didn't really know how to end it. I love them both all the more for it.
Theres so much there. Like the episode where Fake Bill is having trouble talking to girls so they have to teach him how to be a ladies man. It works really well, but then Fake Bill feels unfulfilled by pretending to be something he isn't, which leads to a heart felt ending where he says all he really needs is his friends.
That's not wholesome. It's a joke that he looks nothing like the real person, but they can't tell. What's wholesome is Koreans who used semi automatic rifles to defend their property in the LA riots are upheld as ideal Americans by the right wing. Roof Koreans are the best of America
Just thinking of when Trevor talked about having a movie that followed this sketch where now they've known fake bill longer than real bill and they have some kind of adventure and the story has nothing to do with him being an imposter. Man I miss him.
I love the trope of the immigrant who demonstrates their love for America by acting fanatical about random snippets of our pop culture. Simpson's did it with Apu and American Dad did it with Sergei.
Oh damn, you’re quite a few years late to the party on this one lol but better late than never, they’re definitely a part of my childhood I won’t forget lol. Enjoy the rest of their content!
It reminds me of the older Miami Vice episode where Martin uncovers the truth about a former NVA intelligence officer who relocates to Galveston Texas, becomes a police detective then assists the Miami Dade PD with a serial killer. Dr Hang S Nore played the cop.
When my son was in scouts years ago we had a Vietnamese kid in there too. Kids attended with a parent at that age. One day my son was pondering ethnicity and, in front of the kid and his dad, asked me "where is he (the kid) from?" While I knew he was asking about ethnicity, I answered based on reality ((unless he reformed the question). I said "from America". I had to repeat it a few times because the son wasn't comprehending. He was BORN in America and that made him an American. We're a country borne on ideals and beliefs and not of ethic heritage. I wanted my son to understand that. Now the kids father could have been a boat person but he beamed at my answer because someone was accepting him and his kid as being 'one of us'. I hope they treat Bill here as one of us too. Sure, he replaced the Bill he killed but you can't undo that. And, maybe if they do support new Bill they will see merit in assassinating LBJ. Not because he is the president but because he was a giant douche.
Plot twist: Bills parents knew what was going on but were happy about it because they were huge Micky Mouse fans and they could finally connect with "Bill"
*You see I don't remember Bill being such a big Mickey Mouse Fan. In fact in High School Bill's locker was covered with Daffy Duck posters and handwritten signs that said Daffy Duck rocks, Mickey Mouse sucks.* That had me laughing so hard the first time I saw this.
