Hello Dennis . . . I use to have two of those fishing reels that was a combo set with yellow fishing poles - the fishing reels some how have been gone or lost but I still have the two yellow fishing rods - you did a nice job of taking the reel apart and cleaning it - so much harden caked grease but you had given it a second chance to fish once again - good video .
Had the 425 version of this reel years ago. It wasn't expensive but caught a lot of fish. I didn't appreciate how good a reel it was and gave it away only to recently replace it but still at a reasonable cost. It makes a great jetty fishing ree.
Dennnis, I d on’t have an Eagle Claw reel. I had a Wrights McGill reel but gave it away. I was surprised this reel had a ball bearing in it. I was expecting to see just bushings. I was servicing a SpinMaster PronSeries IV reel yesterday and could not get the bearing and pinion out. I don’t have your luck. The bearing was fine so I lubricated the bearing in place and cleaned the pinion and greased it in place. The reel which is Ohmori is in great working order but the cosmetics are not so great. I like this Eagle Claw as it is a very well-made vintage reel. Great video as Scott got another great reel! - Chris\
I am not always lucky. I have been stuck with a few bearings that would not budge, but those were not on reels when I was making a video. Patience and persistence prevail. Thanks Chris
Dennis, Very interesting video - those old reels were simple but got the job done. May I ask you - on March 7, 2023 you gave me some advice on the camera that you use - I am about to purchase that camera and would like to know what else I should purchase at the same time (tripod, battery packs, etc.) - as of March 7, 2023 "Glad it was helpful! The cameras and phones have improved significantly since 2021, but I still use the Canon. The model is the SX740 HS which is part of the PowerShot line up. It records in 4K. Thanks again - Dennis". Thanks and have a Great Weekend! Tad
Another great video! Quick question, I found a Lake and Stream Wright and McGill spincast reel last year without a button for line release. Took me awhile but I found to release line you tap the front of the reel. I haven't been able to find any info on it. Have you or one of your viewers ever seen one of these?
good to see an old war horse back in the game. these Japanese reels must have things tough on Mitchell reels, they were simpler, more economical , and probably caught their share of fish
Another example of an inexpensive Asian copy of the classic Penn and Mitchell spinners, I have one they are not that we'll made. The gears and internal hardware were clearly inferior to their more expensive period rivals - you get what you pay for
Love these old Spinning Reels . They are inexpensive and do a good job.
Yes they are!

I'm sure it does and if it gets dunked, it is easy enough to clean. Thanks Ward
I have one of these, model 225A, I fished with when I was a teenager. I'm trying to recondition it now.
Good luck in your restoration. Time to give the reel a 2nd Chance - Dennis

A tripod and a spare battery would be helpful.
