I crossed from Cambodia to Thailand through Poi Pet border. I was questioned for 5-10mins but was let go after showing 350-400USD and return flight tickets. I was asked for "tip"/bribe but I declined.

Bro, can I keep Cambodian riel rather than USD for India -> Thailand (Via) -> Cambodia flight? Also, is there any advantage to have local currency than USD while paying for hostel, cab etc. For charging phone, do you carry an universal adapter?
I will recommend to carry USD. Because in any case some USD left with you after finishing your trip then you can easily convert your USD to INR or any other currency from anywhere.
But no will accept Cambodian Riel if it’s left with you. I have tried changing Cambodian Riel to VND or USD in Vietnam but they refused to change.
Yes, you will need universal adapter.

I am planning to visit cambodia and then cross land border to visit Vietnam? what should I show as return ticket to Cambodia immigration?
In that case I will suggest you to book a dummy ticket online or refundable ticket. Either return to India or onward to Vietnam. But you need the ticket in order to cross immigration of Cambodia. There are plenty of website which will give you ticket that hold PNR for upto 48hrs. I have used these ticket before and it worked every time.

Bhai, how do you carry cash ?Do you use a forex card or something like niyo ? Especially when you are travelling for 2-3 months it's difficult to carry cash
Yes brother it’s very difficult to carry cash. However sometimes we need cash for immigration purposes. So yes I also have Niyo Card and Kotak International Debit card. Both card allow me to do ATM transactions anywhere in the world.

@@arjunrayaroth if you have old Niyo card then yes you will save some money. But now new Niyo card (SBM Bank) are taking 100INR for every international transaction.
For international debit card or forex card it depends on bank to bank that how much amount they are going to charge for currency exchange. Kotak generally charge 175rs and Niyo don’t change for currency exchange. So you will save 75 to 100 rs only with New Niyo Card per transaction.

minimum 500USD. or agr 1 month ka stay dikhoge toh 1000 USD. isiliye agr travel purpose se Cambodia ja rhe ho ap toh kevel 2-4 din ka stay dikhao or 500 USD show money fir immigration easily clear ho jayega.

How much cash did you have with you while you landed in Cambodia? And did they ask you to show money??
I had only 200 USD. Luckily they didn’t ask me about it. But after few days my friend also went to Cambodia and he had 500USD cash with him. Still they deported him by saying he doesn’t have enough cash. So if you planning to go Cambodia make sure you have more than 500USD and tell them that you are in Cambodia just for 4-5 days.

Hey bro how can I book a fully refundable flight ticket?
Bro low cost airlines generally don’t offer fully refundable ticket. So, generally we are not able to find any refundable flight for Cambodia or Thailand or Vietnam.
Although I will suggest you to check with some website like EasemyTrip. Sometimes they charge 20percent cancellation charge of total amount and refund around 80%. In case you need refundable flight.

Tickets rates may vary on your search dates, websites, destinations and months. However, you can also dig more to get better results. 😊
Why were people with 1000 usd deported
Bro when it comes to Cambodia Immigration then anything is possible. Cambodia people think that they are very rich country and 1000USD is not enough for their country.
Although if you are planing to go to Cambodia then try to show your return or onward flight within 2-3 days. Then they will be ok with even 500USD.
After crossing the immigration then you can stay for up to 1 month doesn’t matter. 😂
@@nomadsbackpacker this is happening because lot of indians have been stuck in scam camps after being lured by fake jobs on tourist visas so understandable. Just hope they don’t harass genuine tourists who have all their documents in place properly
