Some factions are better positioned on the map, I guess. Corner spots with islands or mountains are brilliant. Still - it's not _that_ difficult to win against AI (on Scholar or lower), since they don't get "opportunities". With that being said, I have over 18 hours of recorded failed attempts at winning as the Canaanites, which happen to be appropriately marked as "very hard"... Thankfully, I _did_ have a victorious playthrough after that.
