That's a very remarkable instrument. The oddball headstock is worth the price of admission alone. Thanks for showing us.

This was my first electric guitar in the early 70's. Wish I still had it.

I had the red version of that. I loved that thing for years.

That strap button, you keep asking "why would you put it here?", That's because that's where Delectro put it. That is the original spot for it, there other two places are the mods! Very Nice find BTW!!! Enjoy!

You made that old dog bark again, looks great! I was always afraid to mess with the neck so I never touched it, glad to see you fix it up and I hope you get many years of jamming with it.

That was worth the work. Great tone.

I have this same guitar, handed down from my grandfather. Maybe I’ll do some set-up work on it after seeing this video. Thanks a bunch!

Cool guitars, it’s worth noting that with the switch in the middle position the pickups are in series instead of in parallel as they are in most two pickup guitars.

I think with both pick ups on the hum buck.

Oh and I forgot to ask; will you give us a look at the amp/case? I've heard of such things but never seen one. Thanks again.

Sure maybe in the future will do a review on the amp. Thanks for the comment!

Peavey also did an amp in the case in the late 70s or early 80s I cant remember exactly when but there's another one you can look out for.

@@fladification There's also the Airline amp-in-case, also tube. The Peavey was solid state and IMO doesn't have nearly the mojo the Silvertone and Airlines do. As you probably know the resurrected Danelectro also did an amp-in-case, or more accurately an amp-in-gigbag. I have not heard that one.

Don't think anyone expected a $ 79 Danelectro/Silvertone to be around in 2023/2024 & beyond. But after watching the neighbors throw away perfectly functional & good to better condition furniture to the curb. They ruined it at the base of the legs scraping it along the concrete. Some folks too lazy to carry the stuff out or even donate to Goodwill or anyone else. I'm out of space to disassemble & store it. The wood is stained cherry, it's not a Wal-Mart stick of furniture for sure. To the landfill it goes though.

Great review! Where did you find this treasure?

It came from Texas. Did a trade on Reverb.

in 1969, i was in college and one of my friends had the same rig! i thought it was a cheap ass guitar/amp. i had a copy of a hofner bass with a fender amp.

    • @chickberth
      @chickberth ปีที่แล้ว

They were, back then. Couldn't compete with drums, only worked as a bedroom amp or folk accompaniment. These amps really come into their own once the home recording revolution started, you get a big fat vintage crunch at low levels you can mic up in the studio. Been a secret weapon of in-the-know producers for decades.

@@chickberth, the guitar, however, can be played with bigger louder amps; search for David Lindley and ElRayo-X live performances on TH-cam and you'll see him playing the same model of guitar in sparkly red on big stages around the world, at music festivals and on televised German and Swiss TV show venues such as Rockpalast, Loreley and Metropol Berlin. The performance of "Quarter of a Man" at the Reggae on the River festival is a good one.
