    🚨 Why did Fredo betray the Corleone family? And what led Michael to make the decision to kill his own brother? Watch the video below for all the explanations.

      Sure Michael figured it out. Put yourself in his position. One of your men from your criminal organization (who was never given and never asked to broker a peace deal or truce) comes to you and tells you that the boss of the other criminal organization (that your at war with) wants to meet and broker a truce. You wouldn't ask yourself "who told this motherfucker to set up a meet? How was he not killed when he spoke to them? We are at war, I expected him to have murder "our rivals" the second he crossed paths with them?

    It has always amazed me that every character, at least in the films, seemed to ignore or completely forget that Michael was a Marine Corp Captain and decorated WW2 combat commander. Michael was the one who knew Solozzo would never stop trying to kill the Don. Tom Hagen thought they shoud negotiate a truce after killing Bruno Tattaglia. Michael was ahead of Tom and Sonny, he knew the truce offer was a trap.
      Michael was already well-versed in betrayal when his bodyguard tried to kill hiim in Sicily. He was never going to fall for Tessio's trick. He saw through Barzini just like he saw through Solozzo. And he wanted revenge for Sonny, he wasn't going to make a truce with Barzini.

    There's an old, but famous quote from the 1500s book by Machiavelli, titled "The Prince." The quote is as follows: "When you go after the king, you must kill him on the first effort, because if you don't, he will come back with overwhelming force and kill you." Or words to that effect. Tessio went after Michael, but failed to kill him with his first effort, and per Machiavelli's prediction, Michael came back with him with overwhelming force and killed HIM.

      But that is only part of it. Don Vito wouldn't be there to counsel Michael forever. Tessio had to bet on who would win after Vito died, Barzini or Michael. He bet his life on Barzini. That was a mistake. He should have stayed neutral and waited for the dust to clear.

    Tessio really screwed the pooch. 1. He was there when Vito took command over him and Clemenza with a bold plan to wipe out Don Fanucci. 2. Tessio was there when Michael did the same thing, taking command from Sonny and Tom with the bold plot to kill Solozzo. That should have reminded him of Vito's move against Fanucci. 3. On top of everything, Michael still had Vito as his Wartime Consiglieri. To think that he could fool Michael and Vito combined was suicidally stupid. Michael said it was a 'smart move' but it really wasn't.

    The story is about Italians, and that too of a very specific variety. That of those who speak the Sycilian dialect of Italian. The experience of an average native-English speaker would be that of seeing an Asian mythology dance without knowing the story.

Once their treachory profits their new family/boss, they are no longer of use or trustworthy to that new family/boss. who's to say if they become unhappy in their new situation, that they won't become again a traitor to again further their own agenda. • @KevinStidham
      @KevinStidham 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is not the point of the video and it has nothing to do with his mistake. His mistake was assuming that Michael was not going to be aware that he was a traitor when he came to him about the meeting with Barzini. Michael was aware this was a plot because Vito explicitly told him to watch out for it.
      Vito was also the one who figured out it was Barzini pulling the strings

    • @user-iy6rm6pm4j
      @user-iy6rm6pm4j 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That is not the most critical lead. The most critical lead is what happens after the Don dies? Tessio figured Michael wouldn't stand a chance against Barzini. You say Vito counseled Michael. You forget that Vito also counseled Tessio. "Do you trust my judgement?" Vito told Tessio that Michael would beat Barzini after Vito was gone. Tessio didn't take that advice and died for his mistake.
