You never appreciate where you come from, unless it's seen thru another person's eyes. Chuchoteri Watch The Twins' last two Hangouts...his straight-forwardness & no nonsense attitude came across as rude to some of the female population and a few males. The comments became VERY speculative, but the Holiday Hangout was worse when Larry refused to admit what he felt about his brother, tho' Laurent was very vocal. Now THAT really didn't sit well with the Laurent followers, Larry got some serious backlash and was accused of not caring, when in reality, the man didn't have to admit anything to anyone at all. Bottomline, when you see Larry speak for a long period of time, his blunt way of speaking turns off certain people to the point where the complaints start to pour in, when in reality not everyone you meet have a ''congenial'' attitude, you will come across someone who's straight forwardness will either catch you off guard or turn you off. That was what I was thinking of. Got it?

With Larr, the problem is not just about refusing to admit his feelings, which is understandable, but mainly about the rude stuff, such as "I am better dancer than you", "You stink", "Did you brush your teeth today" and so on. For some stupid reason, he enjoys humiliating Lau in front of others, whereas Lau doesn't do that to him. And those insults have absolutely nothing to do with straight-forwardness. So I completely understand Lau girls with this. Because in every single interview, Lau looks like the more sincere one with better personality, and Larry looks like a selfish ignorant kid. It also may be the reason why most girls prefer Lau over Larry.
Chuchoteri ..You know, now that you mentioned it..have you ever seen the earlier interviews/appearances about a few years back where it seemed like Laurent always dominated the conversations, wouldn't let Larry get a word in edgewise. It often made me wonder if Laurent dictated how things went in that duo behind the scenes...and now that they are older and a bit more experienced, it's like Larry is ''subconsciously'' trying to be the 'dominant' one so to speak...like he's trying to be the assertive one now & project that 'yes he has a voice'' and he wants to be heard. ALSO, being the ''little brother'' he's striking back at all the times Laurent sassed HIM in front of others. Know what I'm talking about? I remembered thinking when I first started looking at earlier videos of them that ''Laurent hardly lets Larry get a word in, he keeps dominating the conversations''. Of course being an older sibling, I've been guilty of dictating what your younger siblings do, and trust me, it bites you in the butt as the years go by. But you really mean no harm. Anyway, maybe Larry is projecting? I don't know, but I had got that impression when I first started watching the Twins.

And most importantly, it was Lau's idea to start dancing professionally together and I think he still feels the responsibility on his shoulders, which may be why he organizes things sometimes. I always wonder: they were separated when they were little, I would like to know which one of them stayed with the family and which one had to go away. My guess is Larry stayed with mom and Lau had to go away - because if so, it would explain EVERYTHING in their relationship. But it's just a guess. I never talked to Lau, but I had a chance to speak to Larry in person and personally I can't say one bad thing about him (except that he is really flirty, not that cute shy baby as he looks sometimes - well, he tries to pretend to be shy and it kinda makes him adorable, but it's all fake lol ). Basically I think that because of his baby-face, smile and natural cuteness, people tend to forgive him everything, even the rude behavior. And even Lau forgives him everything, cause he is his little brother (even if only 2 minutes younger). That's why Larry knows he can afford to behave like an idiot sometimes lol.
Hmm, I don't agree with his statement of of native dwellers of a city. A native NYer will always have a better rundown of a city and its past, regardless of knowing some hip, fancy places that are provided because of money and status. Sure maybe he's been able to see NY through a richer lens because of his success but a native NY head will run circles around him because of the intangible past and memories they have where he only experiences the right Now of the city. Still an ill dancer but relax the ego. The Best isn't always the Best thing to expetirnce compared to authenticity of a place
Luey Vivant I felt like he was getting more at the idea of not natives to an area appreciating where we live, not learning more about where we live. I've lived in my town 15 yrs, it's hardly a big city, but it's only when I have visitors that I make the time to learn more about it because every other day I stick to what I know, my patterns, my work, that sort of thing. And I do always learn something I didn't know before, whether it's a new restaurant, a new park, what some piece of public art actually symbolizes, and the list goes on. So, just a different perspective on what he said, food for thought :)
I think he was referring to people who live in certain places but not really knowing about "their" city. He even said he thought he knew Paris until Bey showed him places he's never experienced. Just because you are born in NY or Cali or Texas don't mean you automatically know EVERYTHING about where you live. Plus NY was basically their home for about 4 years, so he knows what he's talking about.
It all boils down to what type of person that ''native'' is...someone who is happily content with knowing 'just' the small area they live in or someone who loves to be out and about & explore different places in different counties in the State they live in and can tell you the ins & outs of such places better than a map. On another note, it amazes me how Larry is the one twin who causes more debates than Laurent, no matter what the subject is.
