Problem is, far too many of these kids don't have the academics required to get into a college nor do they have the awareness to study if and when they get there. Sadly, the people (coaches, administrators) who prey on these kids promising dreams that (as adults) they should know are unworldly is sickening. Good coaches / administrators need to have a bit of Simon Cowell in them and must be able to look at kids and tell them the truth, "your a great person but you don't have the talent or skill set to make it to the next level". Its harsh but its worse, IMO, to lie to someone and let them reach for something that simply isn't attainable.
