THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH for this video. It has simplified and clarified these essential basic steps to organizing data that I simply could not understand from the manual. Brilliant. Thank you.
The link in the video description should be working... at least it, and the link to the .do file (once you click the link above) on my personal page worked for me just now.
Hi, When I trying to follow it up and using byu data link in stata, its showing me connection time ran out, also when I am trying to open that page on chrome, its not opening, so does that mean data has been moved from byu website ?
@@DavidBraudt So David, the error is like temporary or it will be rectify soon ?. Also in the rest of the follow up videos, its showing same kind of error.
Blue indicates a value label, not a string variable (indicated by red), so yes, your results will be based on the numerical values underlying the blue value labels.

Try the link in the comments again and let me know if it still has issues.
@@DavidBraudt Hi David, I again follow each step and still I am getting the same error: connection time ran out
The connection error is on BYU's end. I thought you were asking about the link in the video description

i imported database to Stata, but numbers are blue. if i kept it, does it matter to my results? should i change it into black?
Blue indicates a value label, not a string variable (indicated by red), so yes, your results will be based on the numerical values underlying the blue value labels.
Your variables with numbers are store as string variables, destring them and that will be sorted
How do I recode a string to a numeric?
with the "destring" command... e.g., destring varname
The problem is that the data is D and S but I need to be able to run drop all data points without an S
Thank you!!!
make more videos pleaaaaase :)
