tbh the suicide part feels both like having to fight off hopelessness and suicidal ideation AND what it feels like to have a panic attack
you find yourself there again and you can't stop it. it just keeps getting faster. if only you could convince yourself you aren't going to die. but it feels like at the end of the panic is the ground and a sudden death
until it ends and you're thrust back into a world of anxiety and exhaustion

I feel like this song is about a person who has always felt safe and sound inside their own mind because reality was too much for them. But it slowly came crumbling down. They couldn't keep running and hiding any longer, they wanted to keep trying, though. The reality starts permeating even their safe haven in their mind, it corrupts and takes over everything they once that to be comforting. This uncovers anxiety and depression that stemmed from finally opening their eyes to a chaotic life they hadn't fully seen before. They eventually couldn't take it anymore and jumped off of a building, as they fell they breifly thought that things could have been different, but then it went black. I believe the reason the song continues is either because they were just fantasizing about their suicide or that they didn't die from the fall, and woke up in a hospital.
This is just my interpretation because people tend to project their own problems into things that are up for interpretation. So you can interpret it however you want, but that's mine.
Don't tell people their interpretations are wrong, the singer/songwriter/band interprets it their own way, and you do too.

I remember listening to this song a few years back, and while I liked it, it never resonated with me, I could never truly relate to it. Yeah guys, we all have are paranoid moments, but that's not what the song is about. It is about living in constant fear.
A few months back, I was in a road accident and it was terrifying. While I know that this isn't exactly what the song is about, it really spoke to me. Having to be on the road was exhaustive, I was constantly filled with fear and panic. Especially during the first weeks after, I couldn't function at all. I was diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress, which, as I was told, was to be expected after a near death experience.
I'm not gonna pour my heart out here. I just wanted to say that I appreciate the song on a whole new level now.
If anyone cares, my PTS is slowly getting better, I am finally coping. :)

PTSD sucks pretty bad. I don't have it myself but I can't go near a roller coaster without thinking that I'm gonna die. I do ride them but the thought is there even as I'm trying to ignore it. (Sorry, I hate to be "That Guy" in the comments but it actually "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder". Sorry. But I'm glad your getting better!)
I know how it feels. I was in a car accident at age 4. I was panicking so bad that I couldn’t undo my car seat which I was usually able to to. My bro grabbed me and took me out of the car. I was crying and for years (even sometimes to this day) I didn’t like driving in cars because I was always scared of crashing (I’m 10, I don’t actually drive). I don’t remember the intersection but it was an intersection where a lot of people have crashed before and after us. That was my first day back in Arizona. Great memories.
I don't really have PTSD. But i'm a really paranoic person. Specially at night when It's Dark and total silense. I even sometimes due to stress i get slight hallucinations for a few seconds. So i can relate to this song and the PTS a bit.
(Also sorry for my english. I actually speak spanish)
Most people interpret this song (and no interpretation is wrong) as being scared because you're paranoid about demons or something coming to kill you, but I really interpret it as the thoughts inside your head, haunting you.

Dude. I went with my mom to see them last night with bvb fir and drama club and cody was so sweet. My mom was in a wheelchair and i went to meet him after the concert. He took a picture with me and signed my ticket and he was just so sweet. I had to push my mom to the merch table and he said "make a path for my friend" and i was just like awwwwww. So yea hes just sweet as can be. (He also stood thanks to the crowd holding him up...then he screamed trust fall and thr crowd caught him and managed to move him back to the stage. I was impressed he trusted us like that..)

I like how this song describes what it’s like to have a paranoid or suicidal mindset.
“They come creeping from the corner” obviously refers to how sometimes you feel like you’re not suicidal or paranoid but then the THOUGHTS come up again when you finally feel safe.
“I created a monster, a beast inside my head, I have no where to go, I’m out on my own. Oh I’m so scared.” This part refers to what it’s like to have this mindset. Most people that you’re friends with probably don’t know what it’s like to be paranoid or suicidal, so your OUT ON YOUR OWN. You have no where to go when what you’re trying to get away from is inside your own head. And most of the time people who have these mindsets created them which refers to “I created a monster,”.
“My minds impaired to wake me from my nightmare.” You cant wake up from a nightmare if your mindset IS the nightmare.
“My vision’s getting blur and my skins growing colder.” This refers to the tears in your eyes as you grow COLDER to the people around you. You don’t want to hurt them but you also don’t want to get hurt yourself.
“Appearing young while I’m growing older.” People with this mindset often know the harsh reality of this world. These people are often younger and they are more mature than you know. They APPEAR YOUNG when in fact they are much OLDER INSIDE.
“Can anybody save me from myself?” This refers to the self hate you would have on yourself. You want someone to help you but you pushed them all away. So you give obvious signs of depression but no one seems to notice. You are willing to call out to ANYBODY if they come to you first.
“Walking to the ledge, I find myself looking down. Frozen still with fear now I’m plunging to the ground” this refers to the thought of suicide. You want to do it but can’t bring yourself to do it. You work up enough courage to jump but then realize that you have made a mistake as stated by this part of the song, “if I knew how to fly,” aka the good in your life, “I could convince myself that it isn’t my time to die!” But you can’t change the fact that you have already jumped, “but instead I’m rocketing, faster, and faster...” but then you wake up from your nightmare, “And when my body crashes to the pavement I’m right back where I was before.” Back into the hell you once knew.

For me personally, this describes my constant overthinking and anxiety. Always second guessing every little thing you say, to the point that you're ruining your whole day because you think you said "hi" the wrong way this morning and can't stop thinking about it, which leads to imagining every possible arguement you could have with your loved ones that would lead to them hating you or you hating them, coming up with every possible scenario and every possible thing they could say. Endless imaginary arguments and fights, playing over and over and over in your head nonstop that make you want to scream. Then you start hating yourself because you KNOW that you're bringing all this stress on yourself but at the same time can't seem to stop it.
A hell within your head.
This is me when I'm solving geometry problems. It's like the problem just turns into some fucking monster and I want to panic.

Am I the only that interprets this as a mental illness like depression or something, like the phrase "Not a creature in sight" to me implies the monster that follows you around in your mind, something no one can see. And "Nowhere to go" means that you can't escape your own mind. Then there's the whole falling off the building, he's scared and regretful, which is like having suicidal thoughts for some people, you don't want to exist any more but you're afraid of death, so when you do act on the thoughts, you are scared as hell.

There was a time I couldn't even listen to this song; it described my paranoia, my anxiety, my depression, and my suicide attempt far too well. I purposely fell off a bridge and onto pavement. But it's such a good song that I listened to it more and more, working up enough courage to face my demons.
Thank you, Set It Off, for creating this masterpiece of a song. I'm more a fan of songs than bands, but I can appreciate this band for making a song that spoke to me, that highlighted a part of my life so well.

Why does everyone use Wolf in Sheep's Clothing for Undertale? This song literally has a point where the singer dies and then wakes up "right back where I was before", which is clearly the SAVE/LOAD mechanic, and is all about creating one's own personal hell (like the GENOCIDE route)

Wolf in Sheep's clothing reminds me of Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters on the Cyclops' mountain.
They use Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing because it’s usually the Sans v. Player battle and he just wants revenge. For all the monsters you killed, especially his brother. He’s trying to put a stop to the player. And the “wolf in sheep’s clothing” is the character itself. The sprite on screen, Frisk, is innocent and sweet but the player turns them corrupt through murder but no one can see the outside transformation, therefore the wolf in sheep’s clothing. And the part where is slows down can be seen as sans wondering if they’ll ever go back to the old pacifist route times but then realizing that he can’t. He is trying so hard to get back at the player and go back to pacifist. Hé simply wants out of the endless loop and wants to put an end to the genocide.

I really love this song and I'm so glad I found it via TH-cam suggestions, and I feel like i relate to it, letting my insecurities build up and take over me has been something I have struggled with. On the other hand these fandom comments need to stop. If it's a character tribute or fan animation fine. But being in several of these fandoms, I'm just gonna says it. You're wrong. Especially my fellow undertale lovers. This doesn't really represent Sans. It's a completely different issue. I just wanted to say, this songs amazing, the words, the instrumental, all of it, I love the band and the majority of the songs, I have a lot of mental issues and feel deeply connected to the song, its actually helped me alot in certain aspects.
Ahh the constant voices and thoughts of suicide that just won't go away no matter how much you try to run from them, this song explains the feeling very well to any who want to understand.
