The SN76489 is really great at that. It's a big shame that the Genesis can't do pulse waves, but it has better fidelity because the SNES hardware relies on ADPCM compression.

Hey Raijin, dunno if you have been informed, since this is actually a very recent upload, but someone uploaded this exact song under their own channel with no attribution to you. Their upload is from August 28, 2019. /watch?v=p22Zy_ZytZ4 For the video.
Personally, I would do this track with more Thunder Force IV sounds, but it's still awesome! I fucking LOVE the use of samples here. What do you use to make these Genesis covers, Deflemask? Because I have NO idea how to use it, and I'm not sure how to find out...
+Darrow Nemecek-Gulack (Millennium Eagle) Yes, I use Deflemask as of recently. I was using VGM Music Maker before, but it was giving me a lot of problems and holding me back, so I switched.
Megadrive to SNES:"See this is how you do proper Square Waves!"
You can even synthesize them with FM, but with the PSG channels there is no need to.

You can sort of get 33% pulses out of it as well + two 50% squares one octave apart cancel out to make a 25% pulse
SNES has a response now, too: th-cam.com/video/yaIMWRlTtqI/w-d-xo.html
This actually stays true to the GBA instruments and doesn't go off on a crazy remix tangent like others do.......
That first shred right at the start sounded straight out of Thunder Force V
you're getting insanely good at FM dood

It's FM.
They sound too real to be FM. 0_0
Patch93
It's actually Hitoshi Sakimoto's Choir Patch, which he used in several games. I didn't modify it at all.
